I'm Not DEAD yet!!

Have you ever felt like you were stuck in a rut? Every day is the same as the day before? Wishing that someway you could be a better person in this world? Wanting to help out financially but not knowing just quite how?

This is a good list of questions...no answers that i can find. I simply LOVE being at home..I love knowing that I have a home!! One that I keep clean and it looks good for others when they come here..but they don't come...hmmm!!

I like schedules but I do like having them upset a little with something FUN to do...But that is not happening now because the money is not here...Staying at home is about all that can be done right now.

I feel like I am a better person today than I was even yesterday but getting stuck in a rut is not fun either!! Wonder why I feel like that? I am just sort of writing this just to write it because it is the way that I feel today.

I would LOVE to be able to have some income that would help us out..I am not dead yet and i still have some skills that I can offer...but I just wish that I could find something to do here at home with my computer...

Where is that special someone with a lot of money that has a company that needs people to do entering for them...they would have no over head...no insurance to pay...I could do the data entering for them..plus many of you could also do this and have income too..Where is that person? I just think this would be a great way for someone to help out their company and give us who have a little bit of skills, make some income to help out in these slim times.

I did not go to college...well i could have..but i choose to get married instead..Still think it was a wise decision. As I think back about that I made the correct decision...IF I had not married when I did i would not have finished college...I would have either quite in the middle or I would have got pregnant!! Honestly..i believe that is what would have happened. God was watching over me then even before I knew him as my God and Lord!!

He knew what I needed and to be honest with you..I know that HE still knows what I need and will provide...I guess I just get like this when I know that I have things to offer to an employer but wish that I could be here at home...I should have learned by now that old adage..."you can't have your cake and eat it too." That makes no sense!! smile!!

Well now that I have that off my chest..I still don't feel any better..Guess I need to rely on God and let him show me what he wants me to do...

Wordless Wednesday

This picture shows what it would look like if we could see something happening in a nano second of time...kinda cool right?

Today is a beautiful day here but my parents have a ton of snow in Illinois...Mother sent me pictures...they finally found their car...too bad that they do not have a garage but in apartments that is not usually something that you have! The weather has been nuts all over the place. We are to get into the 70's today and then go back to the 50's tomorrow. It is a wonder that more people are not sick!!

Just returned from Curves where I had a great work out. We do the new Curves Smart. It really makes you work HARD!! I had been bumped up to intermediate and when that happens the computer has you work harder. I figured since I was so tired this morning and my energy level was low that I would not keep it up...but I did!! The computer tells you how many calories you work off in the 30 minutes..Usually I can get around 280 or so but today..today wow..I made 313!! That is incredible for me! Some ladies actually work off 600 calories in that 30 minutes.

I am going to be working some at Curves...the manager is getting so tired working so much so i am going to be going in on some Saturdays..this Saturday to start!! That is only 3 hours..I can surely handle that...Today hubby is working for our son in law doing painting and things that he cannot get done because of his work...We are still hanging in there and know that the work will come when it is supposed too...It is nice having him around!! Wish we could do that and not have to worry about bills..wow!! That would be the perfect life for me...Smile!!

My violets are having babies now and boy are they pretty!! I just love African Violets...I know that I have told you because they remind me of my great grandmother..She always had a table full of them with a lamp that would shine on them..Mine look good right now!! I have three that are flowering but the other two need to take a lesson from the three and get their act together..i talked to them but so far they have not been listening to me!! I have always talked to plants..I think they do better..What do you think? Nope I am not nuts!! Maybe OLD but not NUTS!!

The grands have a half day of school today so I am going to go pick them up soon!! Seems like they are always having days off here...I don't think that i told you but Garrett has now been put into an accelerated class in school..That makes ALL of our grandchildren that have been in accelerated education..How about that...YEAP I am a PROUD grandmother!!

Our 45th Wedding Anniversary!!

Today is quite the day, at least for Mike and I!! We have now officially been married for a whole 45 years!! It just does not seem possible to me...I don't remember being here for all of those years!! I feel like I should just be 45 in age myself but no i have been married 45 years already!! Man this went quickly!! I can remember that day really well in the cold wintry days in Illinois.

It was very cold that day and someone told me that when the bride steps out of the church and the sun shines that means she is going to have a great marriage...well that is exactly what happened that day. When I stepped out to get in the car for our ride around town the sun came out!! I know that is a silly wife's tale but I like to think that it is true because I have had a great marriage!!

We have had a lot of ups and downs..having 3 children...all by C-section...trying to keep them warm and in clothes sometimes felt almost impossible to do!! But they lived and have grown up to be 3 of the nicest adults!! We sent them to Christian schools which took all of any extra money that we ever had!! Two finished college completely and one went about a year and a half!! We are very proud of all of them and the families that they have established. What more could we have done?

Today we got up and Mike gave me that gift that you see in the beginning. That is a Willow Tree statue called, "Anniversary". i had told him that I would love to have that but with the way our money is NOT coming in around here I figured that we would just get each other cards. That is what I gave to him..just a lonely card!! BUT no somehow he managed to get me the beautiful Willow Tree and also a new book that is out by an author that I really like!! He was sneaky!! Smile!!

We went out to breakfast (which we both love to do). Then ran to Sam's and Walmart..Came home and watched a movie. Pretty soon we will be going to our Sunday night small group!! What an exciting day!! Oh well...at least we are together!! Some people are not and are wishing that on this day that they could be!! We are very fortuante that God has allowed us to still be together and to still LOVE being married to each other!!

Thursday our granddaughter Madison found out that we were having an anniversary this weekend and that she and her family were going to be gone....So she sat down here at our house and made us a quick card...She asked me if the mail had come and I said yes and that I had already got it.."Gma do you mind if I go and check the mail again?" I said, "No, of course not!"

So off she went...then when she came back she said that she had found something in the mail box...her card that she had just made..what a sweetie to do that for us!!

As you can see it is from a MYSTERY person in the family!! Ha!!

We have heard from both of our daughters today and sometimes our son remembers that it is our anniversary..sometimes!! We have received a lot of congrats on facebook too and of course from you kind bloggers!! How sweet to have so many friends..Now we just sit back and wait for that big one that is just around the corner...50....That one will BLOW my MIND!!

Saturday Snipets

I haven't felt very newsy lately and now even sitting here in front of my computer, I am wondering WHAT AM I DOING HERE? Nothing much to talk about but then I usually find something right?

I just returned home from church. Mike is still there ushering the second service tonight. I just do not stay since we live so close to our church, it is easier to just take two vehicles. I guess I am not good at waiting. I would rather be here at home...reading my emails or like now..BLOGGING!!

We received word today via facebook that we lost a good friend back in our home state of Illinois. We both knew that he was bad with cancer and his wife knew that she only had him a little longer. They are about our ages too so I can only just imagine how Sharon is taking the death of her long time husband!! I know she is hurting very bad tonight. Bill was really sick so he is at peace now and that is what we have to remember.

I wanted to tell you about the cute International Children's Choir that we had this past Wednesday at our church. They were here last year but somehow I missed them. I took a few pictures which I will share...Just to let you know it was hard to take pictures because "they never stood still"...Not for one minute. I bet they were worn out after that service was over. They were so cute from many different lands. Afterwards they split up and came out into the congreation and hugged everyone. We had the cutest little girl come down our aisle..

Mike has had a couple of jobs this week...we are thankful for every job that he gets. I was reading in my bible a notation that I had made...I think i need this now more than ever and well maybe you do too:

What does Jesus say a worrier ought to do to cure the problem?
*Recognize worry is a sin and repent of it!!
*Cultivate an eternal perspective
*Trust God's providence
*Reaffirm your priorities
*Live one day at a time.

This is great advice!! I am so much less of a worrier than I used to be. Every day I believe that I am getting better. I think that since our home has not sold it is because God has not found us that right home for us to move to yet!! All in HIS TIME!!

Blessings

As I was doing our wash Monday I started thinking about how blessed we are to have such a nice washer and dryer...Then it occured to me that I am very blessed in many many ways!! We have so much and most of the time we just forget it or just get used to having whatever it is..Have you ever thought about the wonderful things that we have?

We have a warm home that has a good roof over our heads. We have food to eat...Whenever I get a little down I have to remember what wonderful blessings that we have...these God has given to us.

This coming Sunday Mike and I will have been married 45 years!! Wow!! We knew each other 3 years before we were married and that started at the young age of 16!! You know when I think back about that I again see so many many blessings that God has given to us to make us what we are today!!

We have so many friends too!! A great neighborhood where everyone speaks and helps out if there is an emergency!!

We have a large church that we attend where we can worship; meet new people; help out when we can; and most especially to learn God's word. I love my bible study which meets on Thursday mornings. We are studying Daniel the first 6 chapters..Daniel was so blessed by God. If God helped out Daniel...we know that God can be our help when we are down or have problems. Daniel really put God to the test and every time God was there and showed him that he was doing the right thing.

Another thing that I feel is a BIG blessing in my life is being married to the BEST friend that I will ever have on this earth..my husband. I LOVE it when I hear the garage door open because I know he is home. I love having him at home and when he is gone I miss him. How many wives can say that after these almost 45 years!!?? Kids today wonder how you can be married to the same person all of your life...and I say to them that is what God intended when He instituted marriage. He wanted us to be life long friends, lovers and partners.

Marriage is not easy and sometimes it is just giving in more than you want too but believe me in the end you always WIN!! It took me many years to learn to shut up or to walk away and let things boil down. I live with a person that VERY seldom gets angry and I am of course the opposite. My anger when I was younger was awful...most of the time I was trying to hurt whomever I was angry with...usually Mike but I only ended up hurting myself..getting a headache or feeling so very foolish!! I have learned..but it took years..that was a stupid way to act...Guess I just needed to mature!! I think that I finally have!!

What blessings do you have in your life? If you are feeling down, or some problems are happening in your life...just stop and think about all the blessings that you have all around you. Then get up and put a BIG smile on your face and thank God for all that He has given to you...Feelin' better???

Wordless Wednesday

How sweet!!

Blogging has not been in my world lately and i really do miss all of my blogging friends!! I don't know why I have not been visiting as much as I used too but need to get busy at it!!

Today is a BIG DAY for our country!! We are about to get our first African American president our 44th president!! He was not my choice, but he is about to be our new president and so that makes me behind him 100%!! I have not always voted right and any way..who really votes right? How do we know really who is going to make a good president for our United States of America. We are really in a bad time now!! We have been used to so much convenience, luxury and freedom. I just hope that we do not take that for granted!! We still need to look out for our liberty!! This new president is stepping into quite a bad problem!! We need to pray for him and for the decisions that he will be making!!

Mike has been home all week so far. No work!! Not good for us so we are trying to tighten our belts. That does not pay the bills but we have faith that God is in this. Every year at this time this seems to happen. Right after Christmas...people do not have the money to spend on remodeling of any kind...course that is just what happens. Most people are thinking about income tax too. I always dislike this time of year here at our house!! We just have to have MORE FAITH!!

I kept our two grands yesterday. They are growing up so fast!! Amazing!! They came in the house and Garrett, of course, wanted a snack..he is always hungry!! He knows to go to this one cabinet that has things he likes to eat there. He saw that i had some peanut butter crackers...OH..not good!!

"Gma, you need to throw these away. They are not good for you!" WOW, he keeps up with the news..right!!

At lunch we were talking. We were talking about the new president which takes office today. Madison piped up and said, "Did you know that Bush is going out of office with only 20% of the Americans liking him?" Where did she get that? I know I was never this smart at 8 and 10...just goes to show you the difference with computers and all of our technology. Kids today know more...they learn faster too!!

Since Mike has been home we are back to canasta!! He beat me yesterday...ROYALLY!! I just did not get the cards...I am not giving up though!! We will play again and I WILL WIN!!

Well guess that is enough words for today!! Now since you are probably bored to death. We have cool temps. It is only 36 here but should make it to 60 so that is just fine!! I love the winters here!! Just a light coat works for me!! I am not a "coat wearer" any how!!

Meme--Just for Fun

I was just over at Pea's Corner and saw this and decided to to try this!!

1. Go to your Picture Folder on your computer or wherever you store your pictures.
2. Go to the 6th Folder, then pick the 6th picture in that folder.
3. Post that picture on your blog and the story that goes along with the picture.
4. Tag 5 other peoples that you know or don’t know to do the same thing and leave a comment on their blog or an e-mail letting them know you chose them.

I am not going to tag but if you would like to play just give it a try..Kind of fun!!

This is our grandson Garrett and his mother, Becky trying to put together LEGO's that we got him for Christmas. Cute picture!!

Friday Show and Tell

Bet you are wondering WHY I have a picture of groceries..well I will tell you..this is my SHOW AND TELL for today!! I am SHOWING you groceries that I just bought and I am TELLING you that this small amount cost me $66.00!! WOW!! No wonder families are having a time making it!! There is just 2 of us and look this is hardly anything..No meat..vegies, fruit and some things to make a few meals and that is it!! Our economy is horrible now. I have seen groceries just climb!!

With milk over $3.00 now; bananas at 62 cents a lb; dozen grade A (18 count) eggs at $2.23
and then trying to add in what else you need to make a meal or hopefully several meals then it just gets ridiculous!!

This is Madison at her spelling bee

Also I thought I would include a picture of our granddaughter at her spelling bee. She did not go far but she tried. She said she was so nervous when she got up there and saw everyone...She had a trial word of" her" and spelled it...h-e-er....She was just nervous!!

Today I am off to pick up the kids once again...Their daddy is waiting (I don't know how patiently) for the people at the RV place to get their 5th wheel ready to pick up..I guess he will be late getting back tonight.

I found a new recipe so am trying that today..It is called Lentil and Rice Soup. You make it in the crock pot!! I so hope this is good. I bought some real nice crusty bread to eat with it and I think I am going to also make chicken salad for sandwiches. I have a German Chocolate Cake that is about to be frosted....

I think I had better eat while I can. Tomorrow I am going to a meeting at Curves. They are starting their new program with a food plan. It is FREE!! I thought well I will try!! I have days that food does not bother me at all..then their are days like today that I just cannot get enough to eat!! I wish that i could conquer this bad habit of mine...I bet you do too!! Most of us have this silly problem!! I try to keep good things here to eat but well you know..I slip just like everyone else does!!

Better get that cake iced. It will be time to pick up those two from school once again!! They are really good kids so it is not at all a problem for me...love being close to them...

Thursday Thoughts

Home now after going to our first meeting this year at Precepts!! I just love this study!! We are on Daniel now..This should be a fun one since I have already studied Daniel with Beth Moore...Am really looking forward to what ever God has in store for me through this study.

Last night at church we had Kenny Grant again. He has a church here in Savannah. He has preached for us on several Wednesday nights and we all just love him. He is African-American and used to be a drill sargent!! He really gets up there and pours all of himself into what he is trying to get across to you..Last night it was on Victory!! What a night.

When we got home the phone rang..It was our granddaughter Madison. "Grandma I have a favor to ask you."
"Yes", I said.
"Do you know where in the bible it says that a brother is born for adversity?"....
"Not right at the moment", I replied. "Just give me a couple of minutes to find it and I will call you right back."

Well I knew it was either in Psalms or Proverbs and finally when I found it in Proverbs 17:17...It says.."A friend loves at all times, but a brother is born for adversity." Course we all know that the word brother here means all of us..man kind..but to Madison it meant..."Garrett"...her brother!! I had told her about all the problems and trials that I had had with my brother...So I had told her that it says that we girls will have troubles with our brothers in the bible...

I called her with the information. She could not understand what Proverbs 17:17 meant...Guess no one has told her that it is chapter and verse...Guess she needs to learn that...I am so happy that they come to church at least on Wednesday nights!! Makes me proud!!

It has turned off cool here...was in the 40's this morning!! Course being here in the South East has given me a new perspective of 40 degrees...it is not at all like the below 0 temps that I came from in Illinois. Here people get a little bit upset thinking that it is going to get that cold. I understand now from living here for almost 8 years..You get cold easier now. You will see people in coats, scarfs, gloves at this temp...and you might even see those in shorts and flip flops!! Very crazy!! I just put on a jacket and I am fine!! It is supposed to get colder as the weekend approaches.

My parents inside thermometer in December when we were there!!

Mikey did not find out much yesterday from the ENT appt...but what we mostly already knew...once those nerves are damaged in the ear that is it!! He has a bad ringing and has for a long time..most probably from power tools!! Now he has bought some ear protection and like the ENT doctor said...protect what you still have. He is going for an ear hearing test probably this next week.

That is about all the "news" from here!! Things are good and that is the way i hope it stays..Mikey's work as slowed down tremendously but we try not to think about it because this happens every year at this time..WE have made it before and we will MAKE it again...

Wordless Wednesday

How cute is this?

Good Morning!! i am off this morning to see my youngest granddaughter, Madison in a spelling bee here at her school. I hope that she does a great job...I love being able to see some of my grandchildren do things in school....

Today is ENT day for Mike..We are going to an ears, nose and throat specialist to see if we can give him ANY help with his ringing in his ears!! I have been told that there is Nothing that can be done once the nerves are damaged...but we need to try anyway!!

Mike's jobs are slow right now but this happens every year at this time!! Sometimes it can be scary but we just go day by day and know that the jobs will come...given time!!

My parents have received around 35 cards that I know about for their anniversary this past Monday!! I was so happy that the card shower worked!! It made them feel special and that was what I was working toward..Their neighbor brought them this beautiful bunch of fresh flowers....

They have some very nice neighbors!! Guess I should have thought of this too!! Well from a distance, i did the best that i knew how!!

Yesterday we went with our daughter and son in law to South Carolina to look at a 5th wheel that they were interested in. We got there about 10:30 and did not leave until 3:00!! WHEW!! But that is the way it was when we purchased our motor home too...from the same place!! This is a very nice one with 7-8 ft ceilings which makes it so much nicer and gives you the illusion of more space!! They are very happy!! Roger goes to pick it up tomorrow!

This is what we have to put up with!! We went to the upstairs little grill that is above the RV place. . We got all four meals FREE!! I had the BEST chicken salad sandwich. They put it on whole wheat berry bread and the chicken salad had dried cranberries in it..I ate the WHOLE THING!! Mike was sitting there saying...You will never finish that!! That's what he thought!! it was too good not to eat it..

Well I am off to Madison's spelling bee!! Hope all is well in your part of our great world..

65th Wedding Anniversary

My Dad and Mother..I like this picture!!

Today is my parents, 65th Wedding Anniversary..Already!! How the years have flown by so quickly no one really knows for sure but they have!!

I talked to Mother yesterday and she was having quite the time understanding this big date too!! I had written to everyone that I knew that knows Dad and Mother. I wanted them to have a card Shower and that is exactly what has happened for them..

They have received some 19 cards since I last talked to her and am hoping that they get a ton more today and the rest of this week...they so deserve this..I live too far away to have a party for them so this is going to have to do for now...I am so proud to have my parents for such a long, long time in my life!! How amazing!! I would have NEVER thought I would have them this long...God is Good!! He let them live long enough to accept HIM as their Savior too and that is the most awesome miracle!!

Canasta Sunday:

Yesterday Mikey and I had fun playing canasta in the afternoon!! I never can beat him no matter how hard I try!! He just makes plans sitting there looking "poker faced"..so he is hard to beat...BUT...I beat him in the first game...I was so Happy!! Then we played again and he beat me..Okay so I won ONCE..

We played another game and GUESS WHAT??? I won...so I beat him 2 out of three games..By that time it was time to get to our small group!! This will probably never happen again so to prove it....

Not the best picture but PROOF!!

We had a great time. In fact, we had a fun weekend. I love just being with him. That is the most important thing. I miss him through out the week when he is gone but so happy to know that he will be coming home soon...The best sound in my world is the garage door opening in the late afternoon...Annie rushes to the stairs and I yell..Welcome Home!!

Mikey yesterday getting his attack ready!!

Live each day one day at a time and be thankful for the awesome blessings that are in your life..Look at the small things too. I think I am really learning these lessons lately!!
