Monday and Better

Happy Monday!! It has been about 4 days since my knee surgery and am doing pretty well if you ask me!! The operation itself was real simple. I arrived at 6 am last Thursday morning and was home at 9:30 that morning!! How is that for quick!!??

I had a pretty good day Thursday and most of Friday. Lazy Daisy and Mr. Wonderful made it here from Virginia around 6:30 that night. So good to see them!! Love having them here as always...Friday night was not my best...pain and no sleeping...But Saturday and Sunday were even better. You just have to do what the doctor and PT people tell you to do and things just seem to work out...

Today I am tired but almost running out of pain medication so know that I have to stop taking it or at least cutting it back. My knee looks pretty good too..even if i say so myself!!

So glad that I got this done and am starting to feel more and more like me every day!! I have had the best of nurses..Kathy and dear Mike!! They have been just wonderful to me. People have stopped by to see Kathy and Charlie and that has been fun to have more company. Never seem to have any and I love it. So many sweet people. Love having friends.

This is short..just wanted everyone to know that I am alive...not quite right leg kicking yet but will be soon..

Wordless Wednesday

EYE to EYE!!
Good Morning and welcome to another Wednesday or as some people call it..."HUMP DAY"!! Here is the world of blogging some of us call it Wordless Wednesday!! Here in my world I call today...THE DAY BEFORE MY SURGERY!! Yeap, tomorrow sometime I go to get my right knee repaired and hopefully come out of this quickly!! I have no idea about the time yet but should know sometime today after 2:00...that is when they are supposed to be calling me...so my cell phone is going to be attached to me during that time.

This morning i felt like a young mom once again...at least for a few minutes anyway. We kept Garrett over night. His mommy and Maddie left this morning for Sea World in Florida. I went to get him out of bed this morning!! I saw a bump in the middle of the bed and when I touched it I knew he was fooling around (he takes after his daddy...funny). He was under the bed and reached out and grabbed my foot..SCARED me just the way he wanted We got breakfast and then brushed teeth and you know or you remember got all ready for school..Kind of takes you back a little!! Smile!!

The 4th and 5th graders(Maddie's class) are on their way to Florida with a stop at St. Augustine first. They get to sleep next to the Polar Bears tonight..which means it will be cold..plus they are sleeping on kindergarten mats!! Our daughter was not too happy with the sleeping arrangements!! I told her it makes my back hurt just thinking about it. She said they get to see some of the behind things that go on at SeaWorld...so that should be an experience!! It is fun living this close to places here in the South where the kids can actually see for themselves the things that they learn about!!

As for me...I am just hoping to get this house swept today...bathrooms are done and hopefully that is all that I am going to think about...Lazy Daisy and Mr. Wonderful come sometime Friday to stay with us. I always look forward to this time but this year I will not be able to run around like we usually do...DARN IT!! But just having her company will be worth it all.

Better get myself going this morning...I have Garrett to pick up after school then church is tonight...

Hope your day is going GRAND so far...

The Little things in Life

Where have I been lately? Hm...good question!! I am either getting lazy or just not remembering to blog..Really though since I have had to slow down..for about 3 weeks now there is really nothing to write about. I have to look for the small things in life which are usually the BEST things in life..Right?

I have my knee repair surgery this week on the 26th..Thursday. Something that just crossed my mind is that the 26th is the day that Mike and I started going steady some 48 years ago!! Funny..I know..only ME..I would remember this. Mike had absolutely NO IDEA!! Men just do not seem to remember dates like we do. Little did I know 48 years ago when I was something like 16 that I would be having knee repair surgery...crazy world!! I will not be as happy on this March 26th as I was back then..I was very very happy and already in LOVE!! Seems like an eternity ago!! To you that are young reading this IT IS!!

I had the privilege of taking our granddaughter Madison to church this past Saturday. Mike is an usher every other Saturday night. This was his Saturday to serve. I have to sit alone so it was fun having her with me. If you remember she just recently accepted the Lord into her life and was baptized. Time for communion came and I thought..WOW Maddie can take communion now...So i tried to have a quiet talk with her about this and she seemed to understand. She was so sweet..That girl has a HUGE heart..I just hope it never changes..EVER!!

I am really missing exercise but cannot go until after surgery and my knee gets healed up. I never thought that I would miss it but my whole body is sore and it is probably from my knee but also from not moving like it had been used to for the past 4 years!! I hope to get through this surgery and mend quickly..thinking that the exercise and the flexibility that I have received from it will help me...

My cousin called me this morning to make sure that I am okay..How sweet..Right? I have a lot of people praying and that is what I need right now...Also prayer for Mike's jobs that are few and VERY far between...God knows!!

Trying to get my house in order before Thursday. I have our grandson to keep over night tomorrow night while his sister and mommy go to Sea World in Fla with her class from school. Being from Illinois that sounds like a great thing when you are a child but down here it is so different because we live so close to Disney World and all that fun kids stuff. They will be gone for 2 days and miss my surgery!! But that is fine I have Kathy and her Mr. Wonderful coming on the 27th to be here!! I so look forward to them coming but also am upset because I will not be able to run around with Kathy like we usually do..Oh well, I cannot afford it anyway so this way I will just have to stay home...

I just tried one of those new iced mocha latte from McDonalds..wow they are not at all sweet!! It needs some SUGAR!! Okay otherwise I guess but full of calories like everything in this life is.

Hope to get around to visiting ya'll...

Wednesday again

Welcome to a beautiful day here in South Eastern Georgia!! It is about 67 now with the sun shining..my kind of weather for sure..as long as the sun shines!! YEAH!!

Mike and i went to our orthopedist appt this past Monday!! Mike is going to have his left knee replaced later this year or the next. I, on the other hand, am going to have arthroscopy done on my right knee to fix a torn meniscus!! GREAT!! I am going in on the 26th of this month and get this thing over with. I am not at all anxious about it as i know that something has to be done...I am though, not happy with the timing. I wish that it could have roused its ugly head this next year when i could have had some extra help with Medicare but since it is now during the worst time in our financial history, well there is nothing that can be done. Just tighten our belts more and go on with it.

I go this Friday for my pre-op and then I guess i am ready when they are. The BEST part of this whole thing is that Lazy Daisy and her Mr. Wonderful will be coming the day after my surgery to stay with us. I hate it that I am not going to be doing all that fun running around but at least I will have someone here to talk too...That will be great!! They will be staying with us for awhile while they check in with our church and those that support them at ETS!! We always LOVE having them...

I have been keeping busy with a puzzle. I really like putting them together. Tootsie let me borrow this one and believe me it is quite the puzzle..Very small parts..1000 in all. I am close to getting it done. Mike, I find out, does not like doing puzzles so i have put it mostly together myself with a little help from Maddie when she comes over. She seems to like doing them too..maybe it is a girl thing. We used to put them together when I was young...

Close up on the right lower half
About it from the ranch!! Just another day here..

Last night I watched an intriguing new TV show on NBC that I want to share this morning!! It is called, **"KINGS". First of all I knew just a few minutes into it that they were taking so many of the names, places, etc. from the bible so this definitely got my interest up fast...plus i love a good drama!!

This is about a city that has just been completely rebuilt. This city is called Shiloh!! It is a brand new city with no litter and completely clean...It is the capitol of Gilboa. Instead of having a president to reign over this new city, there is instead a monarchy...a KING!!

The new KING Silas Benjamin, is the reigning king. He says that he was surrounded with butterflies which landed on his head like a "crown". Thus he starts this new kingdom with their symbol being the butterfly!!

This is a re-telling of the bible story of David and Goliath. David Shepherd (get the name) becomes a hero in this first episode by rescuing prisoners of war. He does not know that one of the men that he rescues is Jack the son of the KING!! This puts David in the exhalted graces of the KING!!

From there on it has a good story!! The fun thing that i had was listening to the names and places that they took from the bible and the way that they put all of these people and places into play!! Just take David Shepherd for example..David from the bible...young, good looking, warrior, and get that last name...Shepherd!! Plus he goes to war against these big tanks from "GATH" that are called Goliath!! I just had a good time watching all of this and figuring out the plan of the show....

Just wanted to let you know that for me it was fun to watch. It is back on again on NBC this coming Sunday at 8:00 (EST). I plan on watching it because i just love picking out all the similarities that the writer has used!! You might like it too!!

Today is the day that Mike and I go to see the results of our x-rays and MRI!! I hope that something just comes out of today to help us both!! I just want some relief and want to get back to exercising again and being able to go up and down the steps or out running around with my daughter!! I will write to let everyone know the results!!

Mike is still not having much work. This just keeps going and going!! We have to keep the faith and know that God is in this and HE is going to work it all out for HIS good!!

Have a fun day in your part of our wonderful world!!

****You can watch the episode from last night KINGS if you go to NBC.com

Saturday Scavenger Hunt

This is a picture of our 4 granddaughters back in 1999!!

It has been weeks and weeks since I played this game but i thought this morning that surely I could muster up a picture that represents 4!! FOUR is the word for today!!

Course now the girls are: L-Right Emily (now 17); Brie (now 19); Katie (now 15) and Madison in the front (now 10)...they have all grown up so quickly. To me 1999 was just the other day but of course it was now 10 years ago!! My seems so funny to think about that but it was...

They are all growing up into the best young ladies!! We love every one of them too...

Not much going on in our household today...we are both a little lazy!! Hm!! Getting old is a hard thing...My knees are still hurting and gave me fun during the night...Mike is sore from working two straight days..stiff in his legs and back too. I still don't understand how he does such physical work!! But he continues on and on!! Like I told you...he reminds me of an energizer bunny!!

It is another dreary day here in South Eastern Georgia. We are all so used to the sun and so when it hides well it makes me a not so happy girl!!

Dreary Friday

Boy, it is a dreary Friday here for sure...I think we have rain coming and that is a great thing anytime here in Georgia. Right now it is a wonderful thing because it should wash off all of this yellow pollen that our wonderful PINE TREES are shedding right now.

I ran the sweeper this morning...the yellow dust is all over the place!! I mopped three floors and came up with a yellow mop!! The windows are closed today because it is so much cooler..guess that is good with all this yellow pollen going everywhere...

I know...I have been a very bad blogger lately...BUT when there is nothing to write about what do you talk about? I guess I can say that this past Tuesday Mike and I went to see my orthopedist about my knee. Mike talked to him about knee replacements so the doctor ended up taking x-rays of Mike's knees, x-rays of mine and also sent me for an MRI!! I could have went back the next day for the results but since Mike had to have his results from his x-rays too that makes us go this coming Monday afternoon!! I feel like I have pulled my knee someway!! Feels like a big rubber band is all pulled out and making the right side of my knee swell....We wait and hopefully will know Monday!!

I have picked up the kids a couple of times this week at school and kept them for a bit..Yesterday they stayed about 4 hours!! They were all over the place and I tried to keep a good eye on them.

We have a park just down the street from us and they are ALWAYS wanting to go there..Well with my walking not so good I let them go down there. I sat on the front porch and watched. I saw a man walk up to the fence down there with a real cute fluffy white dog. The kids went right over there and started petting him..I yelled for the kids to come home and to come home NOW!! They obeyed and started running back. I talked with Maddie and told her...You know NOT to talk to someone with a pet that you do not know...or much less go up and pet the dog!! She said that she knew but the puppy was so cute...I know it was probably harmless...but none the less they came home fast and I was so glad that they obeyed..My running down there might not have worked!!

I am still studying "Daniel" in Precepts every Thursday at church and just love it. We are up to Chpt 6 right now. My homework for today was to read some psalms that they picked out and to write down one word that described Daniel...As i was reading they took me to Psalm 20. I kept reading and saw that I had the side marked with...My husband. I thought that I would share these verses that remind me of my husband:

"The purpose of a man's heart are deep waters, but a man of understanding draws them out.
Many a man claims to have unfailing love, but a faithful man who can find?
The righteous man leads a blameless life; blessed are his children after him."
Psalm 20: 5-7

That pretty much describes my husband!! See how lucky I am???

Need to call bellsouth now...I always hate having to do that but Mike's email does not work and I cannot figure it out so off to India I suppose!! Why can't someone here in America who needs a job answer my questions? Hm!!

Monday, March 09, 2009

Good afternoon on this beautiful Monday here in South Eastern Georgia!! I am off to work at Curves soon so wanted to try to get a post in for this beautiful day!!

First of all I want to let the world know that those dolls that used to lay around my house...mostly unclothed and made better than me...well that is BARBIE and she is now 50 years old!! Finally..but her figure is the same. The picture at the top of my blog shows what one artist thinks that Barbie would look like at her now current age of 50!! Still looks good if you ask me and I suppose still has that skinny figure too!!

I used to see those dolls laying around on our floors after Julie and Becky were finished playing with them...I always tried to keep them clothed but seems like little girls like undressing them and forgetting to put their clothes back on again!! Oh well..those were the days.

She was invented in 1959 and if you do not know her real name is Barbara Millicent Roberts...In fact this month in 1959...I would imagine that most of your get the AARP magazine that i found this article in...I just thought it was fun to read about. She met Ken Carson in 1961 and they started dating (about the same year I met Mike)....She became an astronaut barbie, a nurse barbie, gold medal barbie; multiracial barbie, teen talk barbie, President Barbie, handicapped barbie, and many others...Also in 2004 she and Ken break up after a 43 year relationship!! How sad is that!! She is the highest earning doll with $1.2 billion in annual revenue!! Wow!! Guess I should have been thinner!! ha!!

I was so upset to hear about the pastor being shot and killed in Maryville, Illinois. That was so sad and so unbelievable. Although I am afraid that we are going to hear about more of this happening. Please pray for that church and that pastor's family which now has no father!!

I have an appt in the morning to go see my orthopedist about this right knee of mine..It is just very very painful and living up these 14 steps does not help at all..Plus I cannot exercise anymore and that makes me very upset..i am very limited on what i can do. I do not go down those steps except when I JUST HAVE TOO!!

My mother goes this afternoon to her orthopedist. i am so hoping that they can give her something to get her out of pain even if that means an operation..Pain is just not fun at all...Sometimes I feel like I have had my share but probably not!!

Off to work soon...take care...I really despise this time change...Not good at losing sleep!!

Sunday the Beautiful!!

It is just gorgeous here today!! I can really see Spring coming. The temp is about 78 and the sun is shining just brilliantly!! It is very very hot in the sun...Course living here in Savannah close to the marsh, we have these nasty little gnats with huge teeth. Everytime they bite me i itch and my skin gets red and swells..Great!! They are always out on the prettiest and nicest of days and then when the REAL HOT stuff hits they hide like we do!! Smile!!

This morning we took our granddaughter, Maddie back to her home. Mike stayed and helped Roger with their fence. Our lovely association (assasination, I call it) has told them that their fence has to be 2 ft taller because of their trailer. Funny thing is that making the front of their fence taller it makes the fence of their neighbors look funny and of course short!! Our neighbor hood association is just a big bunch of dumb ego ridden people!! They think that what they say is as if they are gods...small g of course!! This is one of the reasons that we want out of here. I wonder if they would like to pay our house payment..since they think they own us anyway!!??

While we were there i thought i saw something funny on Garrett's neck. I knew that he did not have a mole there..Sure enough it was a tick..But I guess it was a small one and Roger picked it right off..So now my hair and my skin are just itching to death. The kids play in the woods behind their house all of the time and of course that is where he got it. He doesn't care..he is a boy..he will go right back out there..But you watch..Maddie will think twice about that from now on...

Yesterday my right knee was in such pain that I finally take a more potent drug and of course that put me out...I did not make it to church because i just really did not care..You understand what I mean. I LOVE our church but not when I hurt so bad!! I am hoping to call the orthopedist tomorrow and see what can be done...

See Annie our sweet cat!! She was laying down on the sofa with me just like she does every night..She just kind of shoves herself up again me and falls to sleep..Here she knew that Mike had the camera and sleep was not going to happen for her...smile!! She has been abused I think before we got her because she is so afraid of Maddie and Garrett...Maddie would not hurt her for anything but she runs and hides the whole time she is with us....too bad!! People should be abused themselves if they hurt an animal..My opinion...

I was coming home from working at Curves yesterday morning...As I turned onto our street I saw this little tiny black boy in a diaper walking right down the middle of the street. My neighbor had been coming toward me in her car. She stopped very quickly and grabbed him before he got hit. I stopped to make sure that he was okay. They finally figured out what house he had came out of!! I don't think he could have been over 18 months old...WOW!! That was a shock to see that little guy walking almost in the traffic!!

Off to rest now. Hopefully everyone is doing great and there is NO PAIN in your life right now..Not a fun thing. My mother goes tomorrow to see her orthopedist too and guess what..it is her right knee also!!

Tooth Troubles Thursday

How do you like that title??? We jut keep having problems here followed by yet another problem.

We came home from church last night so i decided that I wanted a bag of that 100 calorie pop corn. I stuck it in the microwave and was chopping away happily!! Sitting there kind of in a happy state until my front tooth broke!! That wakes you right up...oh no!! Not now..this is not the time for more money to be going out of this house.

before

I got up this morning and called the dentist. They could get me in this morning...i went on to my precepts bible study then came home early so that i could go to the dentist.

He looked at it and the ladies come in with the estimate of the bill..the BAD Part!! Well, Mike was with me..he said that I had to get it fixed...So off with the deadening stuff and my nose started feeling like it was growning as it got deader and deader..kind of like a Jimmy Durante nose...BUT not that big...!!! Poor Jimmy!! That must have been awful to put up with..

Anyhoo...Out came those noisy and irritating drills...I hate those..They are certainly better than they used to be when i was little. But they still give me the goose bumps and chilly willies. He got it all done and did not like the way my partial fit so he said that he just could not leave it that way so he took it OUT and STARTED over again..he is very particular!! Back in once again, he said now that looks good!! I now have my smile back!! Sure hated losing that smile of mine but there are days lately that i have not been using it a whole lot!! Oh well!!

after

Now it is off to work at Curves in a few minutes. I am working this afternoon; Friday afternoon; Saturday AM and next Monday afternoon!! That is going to help us a little..Not much when it is only $7.00 an hour. But our manager is trying so very very hard to keep it open!! More power to her I say!! My bad knee is making it hard for me to exercise anymore..Makes it hurt so do not know if I should or not...Problems, problems!!

About time to get ready and wake up Mike from his little nap!! Hopefully everyone is good in your part of the world. It is 64 here and the sun is gorgeous!!

Monday Musings

Well i am now offically...a Senior Citizen..i guess!! Went to the Social Security dept today and i signed up for my Social Security to start!! We have to have some kind of income coming in so next month at this time we will have a little more. This way I feel like I am helping out some....I am excited to think that I can be of help financially!! i am working part time at Curves but that does not bring much in either...

It was not as hard as I had expected because we had a very nice intelligent kind lady that helped us to understand just how things work. Mike was going to see how it would work for him but it will be so much better if he waits until next year. He will be able to make more income if he waits till his 66th year!! We both learned a lot today...

I will be getting medicare next February but of course that is going to come out of my Social Security income!!

We really need some good news lately as the news here has not been the best with Mike having NO work to really speak of or get excited about!!

I feel some better anyway so that is very helpful to my self esteem!!

Remember the young lady that does my nails??? I posted pictures of her baby shower..Well yesterday she had her 3rd child. She had a girl and she will be Alexandra I think...they all are named Alex!! I know you will remember that little fact for sure..So now they will have GIRL, BOY and BABY!! I am sure that is what they will be calling them. I am glad that it is over with for Helen. She is a very nice young girl. It is almost a miracle.. what she can do with nails!! Oh, I know I should stop doing that...and i know that I should but I am still able with the little bit that i make at Curves!! I really am not at all vain..but i know it is sounding that way...You have to treat yourself to some things in this ole' world!!

Our son in law is sick along with our grandson, Garrett...They both have the same thing whatever that is..Fevers and just ill!! I hope that we do not get that here!!

Not much else for today except it has been cold but we were fortunate not to get the snow that many of you have!! We are just that farther South East so that we missed it. This afternoon it is 46 here and very sunny!! I love the SUN!!

Sunday!!

Madison and the pastor that baptized her

What a wonderful night last night was!! Our 10 year old granddaughter, Madison gave her heart and life to Jesus and was baptized!! I was so proud of her!! I am eternally grateful for the salvation of 5 of our granddaughters now!! The boys are trailing but they are still young too!!

It was a wonderful night. We got front row seats...which is NOT my favorite place to sit but we had to have pictures you know!! I decided at the last minute to make my picture taking a video since Maddie's daddy could not be there...Now I cannot get my video sent. Does anyone know how to reformate a video? I cannot seem to send it out to people or post it!! Wish I knew how!! I know it must be too large but somehow it should send..compact it or some word like that..if anyone knows let me know..Thanks!!

Back to last night..i regress....okay...Maddie just got up there and spoke right up when she was asked if she knew Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Then when she and mommy came back to the service i wanted so badly to hug her...Finally when the last song was being sung here she comes over and hugs me...I was so touched. She has the sweetest heart!! Believe me..I wonderful sweet heart. I told Mike that if ANYONE ever breaks that heart I am going to go and injury them...Even if by then I have to use my cane!! Smile!! Garrett was standing on the other side of me and I had my other arm around him..He was cuddling into me too..What a wonderful feeling..One that i do not want to forget!! I felt so safe right there with my grands hugging and Mike on the other side...being in God's house!! What a wonderful experience for this old granmother!!

Afterwords everyone wanted to go eat and of course that is something that Mike and i cannot do anymore...but Mike said...this is so special so off we went!! I gave Madison her gift which was the cutest little Willow Tree statue. I thought this one looked like her and she loves cats..someday she says she wants to be a vet!! She would be a good one for sure!!

Isn't this just the cutest!!! Looks like Maddie and the cat and of course the name of the statue.."kindness"...which fits her so well. We had a great time at the restaurant. She had several other friends her age there that had come to see her baptized...What a great celebration...now to pray for our 2 grandsons!! They will be next!!

Today has been a very rainy day...plus it has given me a headache...sinus probably!! We were called at 3:15 this morning by our daughter saying that the tornado sirens had gone off. They only hear them on their side of Georgetown and we NEVER hear them...We got on the computer and turned on the TV...It went over us I guess because finally we were both so sleepy that we went back to bed. Got up this morning to big puddles of rain everywhere...Several other counties got snow!! It was in the 60's but is going down now into the 50's and is supposed to get colder. Crazy weather but am not going to get too upset if it does snow here...

Well it is lunch time so had better go eat something. Hope your weekend was a great as mine..Oh I forgot about going to Garrett's pinewood derby yesterday...He had a great time and so did we. Mike had helped make his car so wanted to see it race. He did not place but had fun anyway...

This is Garrett on the left and his friend Jack
on the right..they had both had one race
where they got 1st!!

Off to the kitchen now!!
