My Dad's 91st birthday

Dad's LOVE of Burger King!!

Dad turned 91 yesterday!!! How about that for good gens!!?? He is the last of his family still alive. His brothers all passed away some years back with a bad heart and cancer but Dad just keeps movin' along!! Smile!!

He has lost some of that witty spark that he always had and has some problems with his memory but other than that he seems to be doing good. Sure he has developed some things that bug my mother...which it would me too..but I guess for "better or for worse" is what she has to remember now!!

Dad is 6 years older than mother and of course that does not help sometimes either. Dad was a farmer so was always working as far back as I can remember of course. Now he is definitely "retired" and likes it that way. He likes others to wait on him so I guess that is complete retirement.

This past week he passed his driver's test once again. This time I was completely surprised. Remember they live in a very small town and it is easy to get around in. He takes his test once a year now. I know this gives him the independence that he wants but I also do worry a little bit about that. I can understand about having to give up independence. I would not like that at all. He is a good driver. When he stops...he really stops!! We are not going anywhere..Smile!!

Last night his friends gave him a party...Here are some pictures...

He blew out his 4 candles!!

We had a good time having them here for 2 months. Tried to talk to Dad about some things but I think that the older you get the more stubborn and set in your ways you get. I just hope to learn some lessons from this and not do that myself!! Every day we learn new things..new choices to make...new lessons in this life!! If we learn them then I think we need to learn to use them in our lives...

Sandy your blog is great, glad you got more pictures of Dad's party. I sent them on to Ron to have and also to Jon and Bonnie. I will send more to Bonnie, she just called to wish Dad a Happy Birthday and he could not hear on the speaker phone today, so that is too bad. He did know it was Bonnie. Thanks for the comments from your friends. Dad got your card today, thanks. Love Mother & Dad

Happy Birthday to your dad, Sandy. Isn't it wonderful to reach that age and still be as good as he is? Good genes, is right!

Sandy,

Wow! Your father passed a real milestone. No wonder he's set in his ways. Grandpa was like that.

Glad to know his friends gave him a birthday party. Congratulations. You are so lucky to have your Dad with you.

Blessings,
Mary
