Good afternoon on this beautiful Monday here in South Eastern Georgia!! I am off to work at Curves soon so wanted to try to get a post in for this beautiful day!!

First of all I want to let the world know that those dolls that used to lay around my house...mostly unclothed and made better than me...well that is BARBIE and she is now 50 years old!! Finally..but her figure is the same. The picture at the top of my blog shows what one artist thinks that Barbie would look like at her now current age of 50!! Still looks good if you ask me and I suppose still has that skinny figure too!!

I used to see those dolls laying around on our floors after Julie and Becky were finished playing with them...I always tried to keep them clothed but seems like little girls like undressing them and forgetting to put their clothes back on again!! Oh well..those were the days.

She was invented in 1959 and if you do not know her real name is Barbara Millicent Roberts...In fact this month in 1959...I would imagine that most of your get the AARP magazine that i found this article in...I just thought it was fun to read about. She met Ken Carson in 1961 and they started dating (about the same year I met Mike)....She became an astronaut barbie, a nurse barbie, gold medal barbie; multiracial barbie, teen talk barbie, President Barbie, handicapped barbie, and many others...Also in 2004 she and Ken break up after a 43 year relationship!! How sad is that!! She is the highest earning doll with $1.2 billion in annual revenue!! Wow!! Guess I should have been thinner!! ha!!

I was so upset to hear about the pastor being shot and killed in Maryville, Illinois. That was so sad and so unbelievable. Although I am afraid that we are going to hear about more of this happening. Please pray for that church and that pastor's family which now has no father!!

I have an appt in the morning to go see my orthopedist about this right knee of mine..It is just very very painful and living up these 14 steps does not help at all..Plus I cannot exercise anymore and that makes me very upset..i am very limited on what i can do. I do not go down those steps except when I JUST HAVE TOO!!

My mother goes this afternoon to her orthopedist. i am so hoping that they can give her something to get her out of pain even if that means an operation..Pain is just not fun at all...Sometimes I feel like I have had my share but probably not!!

Off to work soon...take care...I really despise this time change...Not good at losing sleep!!

You're old enough to know your way
Around, you're not going anywhere"

Boy do I know about knee pain. I twisted my knee really bad when I fell about 4 years ago. It was finally getting better though not 100% when I twisted it even worse a couple of years later. Then I had arthrscopic surgery (I never can spell that word) and it helped, but certainly didn't solve the problem. My surgeon told me I would eventually have to have knee replacement. I'm putting that off as long as I can. I did get some of those expensive special insoles for my shoes and that helps. Certainly limits the shoes I can wear however and I have always loved shoes.
Barbie doesn't look too bad for 50. My daughter is 48. I think she has aged better than Barb.
I remember when Barbie first came out and the big controversy over her figure. I'm sure the younger generation now wonders what was the big deal. A lot has changed in 50 years - not all for the better. lol

Barbie looks good for her age; goodness knows she's kept her shape!

I'm glad you're going to the dr. and I happy that your mom's going too.

Barbie has had quite the life but I wouldn't trade mine for hers for all the millions she's made!
(would you?)
The shooting of that pastor was horrific. Hope the orthopedist can offer you some relief for your knee pain.
hugs!

I was giving up dolls when Babie came out, so I never had one. I still have several that were my daughter's. The IL shooting was horrible!!

Hope you get some relief from the orthopod for your knee.

There was a whole news item devoted to Barbie's birthday the other day. I was too old for Barbies but my daughters had them as did my granddaughters when they were little. Guess the next will be great granddaughters (not for a few years yet, I hope!).

Sorry your knee is giving you such trouble. I hope your orthopod can sort it out for you.

Take care. Hugs.

Did you ever consider knee surgery? I know two personally that had their knees replaced and they both said they wished they'd had the operation done years ago.

Ah, we've had many naked barbies around our house over the years! Since Mary inherited all of Dayna's dolls, she has a whole tub of them! Sometimes it looks like horrible mass grave of poor unfortunate, naked, plastic women... I make her dress them.
Hope your knee feels better soon!

I love the quote!!
Praying you are feeling better soon!!

Great picture of Barbie at 50 and anorexic... I once read just how off and weird her measurement were and if we saw a person built like that we would think of them as somewhat deformed. I like many was raised with Barbies... And enjoyed them. Have a great day!

I never had a Barbie nor did our daughter. Sonja did have a few look-a-likes of her.

I hate the time change too.
