Busy Saturday

This is the lousy weather that we left!!

I have a myriad of things that I should be doing at this minute but I wanted to sort of remember today!! Today is an anniversary of sorts...we have lived here in Savannah now for 8 whole years!! Wow!! We moved from Illinois here on May 2, 2001....What a long trip that was. Mike and I were in the moving van with all that we owed behind us plus pulling our car. Our son in law was driving behind us in Mike's truck with it filled all up too.

This is the cute little home that we left!!

We arrived here in the early evening only to find that we had no electricity or water!! Now you know Savannah..HOT!! We left the moving van and went over to our daughter's home and slept on the couches. Next day we came over here to start moving things up all of these 14 steps. Still no air and no water. I used everything that I could get my hands on that was in a squirt bottle ...It was so blasted HOT!! Our neighbor, Tootsie, came over with iced tea...wow!! You cannot even know how great that was!! We were so hot and thirsty and grimy....

So now after 8 years we are all settled in and have a FOR SALE sign out front just seeing what we can do. This house with the steps is about killing both of us...but I still love living here...I love my neighbors and my flowers...

Better get busy. I worked at Curves this morning so am behind for this day but it is fun to talk with the women there...

I love the tulips for your spring at the top of your blog!
I love Savannah...it is a beautiful place. The South is HOT and HUMID! I live in Alabama ...so I understand the crazy weather. LOL
I am so proud of you going to Curves! I soo need to start excerising...I mowed the front yard this morning with a push mower. The first time for me in a number of years!!! My honey was kind enough to finish the rest of the yard. I stayed outside with him for support! LOL
Have a great weekend!

Aren't moving days so much fun... now did I say that with sarcasm ;-)

I know that things will happen when they are suppose to for you.

When we bought our home it had to have no steps.. now I'm thinking we should have added wide doorways to the criteria.

Have a great weekend, Sandy!

My dad had built my mom her dream house before he died but she ended up having to sell it because all of the stairs were so bad for her. I can certainly appreciate how hard stairs are when you get older, especially if you have bad knees!!

Goodness, that was quite the moving day you had, with no water or electricity! Thank goodness for good neighbours:-) And now you have your home up for sale...I do wish you the very best of luck with it!! xoxo

I have been there before....I am glad that it is not me having to pack up and move again. Good luck with that. I thought about you this morning. I went to Wal-Mart early this morning(had to) and saw the cutest pair of crop pants. They had colorful flip flops all over them. Maybe ya'll will move to Mississippi and we can be neighbors.

Well, I hope you can sell your place and find one with no steps. That's what I did...I know how it is. Now, no steps to climb...life is wonderful.

I love the vibrant colour on your vase of irises, too.

I understand the steps.... We moved 4 years ago to get away from a beautiful two story home..... Lots of personality but lots of steps..... Just could not do it........BUT we were so blessed to find the home we have now and what an adventure you have before you....... HE will lead you to just the right home ! It will be fun to see what you find.......

Hi Sandy, it was very hot today..89 or higher!!! I went to River Street and enjoyed first Saturday on the river... I love to take pictures of the big ships going down the river and headed out to the ocean.

I love the Irises, my daughter's Sorority flower..the purple is a great color... love it!!!

I hope you and Mike can sell your house and find a perfect match for the two of you..stairs can wear your body out...

Have a good Sunday. hugs, Barb

Hi Sandy,
You really changed climates with that move didn't you!
Sounds like a wonderful neighborhood and great neighbors. It must be so hard to think of leaving such positive things. I know the stairs can make quite a difference as we age. Maybe the housing market will turn before too long!

Sandy,

I didn't realize that you had moved from Illinois to Savannah so recently. And to have no electricity or water when it was so hot must have been very difficult.

I love the little house that you left. I'm glad you're settled in. I dislike moving, so would be staying put. I would love a house with a bigger yard, but just have no desire to pack up and move after 17 years, but can't blame you because of the steps. We have steps that we have to come up to get from the driveway to the side door. Not great when you have knees like mine.

Take care and have a great week.
Blessings,
Mary

You really did change climates but isn't it great living in the south. You've been here long enough to call you a SOUTHERNER! It does get hot but you gotta love it!
