Our 45th Wedding Anniversary!!

Today is quite the day, at least for Mike and I!! We have now officially been married for a whole 45 years!! It just does not seem possible to me...I don't remember being here for all of those years!! I feel like I should just be 45 in age myself but no i have been married 45 years already!! Man this went quickly!! I can remember that day really well in the cold wintry days in Illinois.

It was very cold that day and someone told me that when the bride steps out of the church and the sun shines that means she is going to have a great marriage...well that is exactly what happened that day. When I stepped out to get in the car for our ride around town the sun came out!! I know that is a silly wife's tale but I like to think that it is true because I have had a great marriage!!

We have had a lot of ups and downs..having 3 children...all by C-section...trying to keep them warm and in clothes sometimes felt almost impossible to do!! But they lived and have grown up to be 3 of the nicest adults!! We sent them to Christian schools which took all of any extra money that we ever had!! Two finished college completely and one went about a year and a half!! We are very proud of all of them and the families that they have established. What more could we have done?

Today we got up and Mike gave me that gift that you see in the beginning. That is a Willow Tree statue called, "Anniversary". i had told him that I would love to have that but with the way our money is NOT coming in around here I figured that we would just get each other cards. That is what I gave to him..just a lonely card!! BUT no somehow he managed to get me the beautiful Willow Tree and also a new book that is out by an author that I really like!! He was sneaky!! Smile!!

We went out to breakfast (which we both love to do). Then ran to Sam's and Walmart..Came home and watched a movie. Pretty soon we will be going to our Sunday night small group!! What an exciting day!! Oh well...at least we are together!! Some people are not and are wishing that on this day that they could be!! We are very fortuante that God has allowed us to still be together and to still LOVE being married to each other!!

Thursday our granddaughter Madison found out that we were having an anniversary this weekend and that she and her family were going to be gone....So she sat down here at our house and made us a quick card...She asked me if the mail had come and I said yes and that I had already got it.."Gma do you mind if I go and check the mail again?" I said, "No, of course not!"

So off she went...then when she came back she said that she had found something in the mail box...her card that she had just made..what a sweetie to do that for us!!

As you can see it is from a MYSTERY person in the family!! Ha!!

We have heard from both of our daughters today and sometimes our son remembers that it is our anniversary..sometimes!! We have received a lot of congrats on facebook too and of course from you kind bloggers!! How sweet to have so many friends..Now we just sit back and wait for that big one that is just around the corner...50....That one will BLOW my MIND!!

Happy anniversary!!!!! That is a wonderful accomplishment. It sounds like it was a perfect day for you.

It's funny because I always heard that if it rains on your wedding day it is good luck.

Happy Anniversary!!! Today it seems such a rarity! Congratulations! I'm always astounded when people are surprised that Bill and I have been married 21 years. Mary is one of the few kids in her class with parents who aren't divorced.

Bless you both! Have a great week!

Oh Congratulations to you and Mike, Sandy, how fabulous for you and I hope you have many many years more together.

You've written a delightful post and I can see why your marriage has lasted so long...you are still both sweethearts. It's so romantic.

Yes! Happy belated! I know you didn't let my absence stop you from having a great celebration! How SWEET of Mike to get you that statue! I love those Willow Tree statues! Truly I do! 45 years is quite an accomplishment! By today's values, it's a miracle! But since you (and me) grew up on yesterday's values it's just a real blessing!!! And you're right -- 50 is just around the corner. Wonder what the next 5 years will bring...

Happy Anniversary to you and Mike, dear Sandy!! I'm so sorry for being a day late in giving you my best wishes...I just didn't have much time for the computer yesterday. 45 years of marriage is certainly quite an achievement...should I ask Mike who deserves the medal, you or him?? hehe You quite obviously found your soul mate all those years ago:-)

Love the Willow Tree figurine Mike gave you, it's beautiful! Sounds like you were having a wonderful day in celebration...I love the card Madison made for you! lol The "mystery person in family" that she signed is too cute!! xoxo

WOW!!! It does go by quickly doesn't it? Maybe it's because you are happily married....if you weren't happy it might seem like 145 years!!!! Congratulations and God bless you both!

You asked where I get pictures, I use a service called "INMAGINE". It is free and I have found some really good pictures there. Try it.

Congratulations. You're right. Your 50th is just around the corner. We rounded that corner back in July. I'm like you, I don't feel like I should be over 45 years old and here I've been married for over 50. Where in the world did the time go?
The card is so cute - and thoughtful.
Blessings,
Charlotte
