Blessings

As I was doing our wash Monday I started thinking about how blessed we are to have such a nice washer and dryer...Then it occured to me that I am very blessed in many many ways!! We have so much and most of the time we just forget it or just get used to having whatever it is..Have you ever thought about the wonderful things that we have?

We have a warm home that has a good roof over our heads. We have food to eat...Whenever I get a little down I have to remember what wonderful blessings that we have...these God has given to us.

This coming Sunday Mike and I will have been married 45 years!! Wow!! We knew each other 3 years before we were married and that started at the young age of 16!! You know when I think back about that I again see so many many blessings that God has given to us to make us what we are today!!

We have so many friends too!! A great neighborhood where everyone speaks and helps out if there is an emergency!!

We have a large church that we attend where we can worship; meet new people; help out when we can; and most especially to learn God's word. I love my bible study which meets on Thursday mornings. We are studying Daniel the first 6 chapters..Daniel was so blessed by God. If God helped out Daniel...we know that God can be our help when we are down or have problems. Daniel really put God to the test and every time God was there and showed him that he was doing the right thing.

Another thing that I feel is a BIG blessing in my life is being married to the BEST friend that I will ever have on this earth..my husband. I LOVE it when I hear the garage door open because I know he is home. I love having him at home and when he is gone I miss him. How many wives can say that after these almost 45 years!!?? Kids today wonder how you can be married to the same person all of your life...and I say to them that is what God intended when He instituted marriage. He wanted us to be life long friends, lovers and partners.

Marriage is not easy and sometimes it is just giving in more than you want too but believe me in the end you always WIN!! It took me many years to learn to shut up or to walk away and let things boil down. I live with a person that VERY seldom gets angry and I am of course the opposite. My anger when I was younger was awful...most of the time I was trying to hurt whomever I was angry with...usually Mike but I only ended up hurting myself..getting a headache or feeling so very foolish!! I have learned..but it took years..that was a stupid way to act...Guess I just needed to mature!! I think that I finally have!!

What blessings do you have in your life? If you are feeling down, or some problems are happening in your life...just stop and think about all the blessings that you have all around you. Then get up and put a BIG smile on your face and thank God for all that He has given to you...Feelin' better???

I try to thank God each day for specific blessings that I normally take for granted. I am so very blessed. I use to have lose my temper alot and say things to hurt. My husband doesn't get mad often and I think seeing how he handled things helped me to change. I really enjoyed your post! It was a blessing to read. :)

So, I best get busy. Love your Valentine layout. You're doing very good!! And your more than welcome for the help...if you ever need it...you know wher to contact me. :o)

Congratulations on your happy marriage. I married at age 17 and celebrated 50 years of marriage this past July. I know what you mean about that garage door; I feel the same way. Aren't we blessed?

Ed and I have been married for over 32 years. I was 16 and he was 26. Only by the grace of God did we make it. He is the best thing that ever happened to me although I didn't know that until 10 years ago when I came down with rheumatoid arthritis. Our whole life together changed drastically for the better and even tough I hate this disease I am thankful for it as well. I see now how much he loves me and would do anything for me. That is one huge blessing. I was thinking the other night about all the things we Americans have that we take for granted. The first thing I do in the morning before Ed gets up at 6 is get a hot shower. I stand under that steaming water and praise God every day for it. The heat takes the pain right down the drain. I thank God for Ed ripping out the old claw foot tub that I adored but could no longer get in and out of anymore, and fighting with a shower enclosure just for me. He even bought me a shower wand that is every arthritics dream. Then there are the countless appliances..washer, dryer, stove, t.v(s), DVD's, CD players, microwaves, dishwashers, furnaces, water heaters, and the BIGGIE, indoor plumbing! How about the furniture in our homes..the beds, recliners,2 cars, the computers! We all should take an hour and just thank the Lord for each thing we have. He certainly loves us..Judy Bryan

A couple of years ago I was reading a book on life and one of the suggestions was to write down five things you were grateful for every day. I did that for a year and the changes it brought about in my life were amazing.

Being grateful and saying thank you can be a life changing experience and takes very little time, don't you agree?

Lovely post, Sandy, and I can see why you have most of what you need and such a bountiful life in the way of friends and family.

Hi Sandy,

You do have a lot to be thankful for, don't you? I think we all do if and when we stop to count our blessings.

Happy Anniversary to you and Mike. I had forgotten that you and I share the same anniversary date. Ed and I will have been married 34 years on Sunday, January 25th.
