Decided not to do Wordless Wednesday today instead to catch you up on my health!! I had both of my doctors call just a few minutes ago so thought i would fill everyone in on the results.

First of all my primary doctor said that the blood test on my live is just fine...So that is a praise. Then Dr. Baker, my neurosurgeon called. He talked to me himself. He told me that surgery will not fix my problem. He said that the myelogram yesterday did not show any pinched nerves. Yes, I do have a herniated disc and a slipped disk but that operating on them would not help my problem. He talked to me saying that he LOVES to do surgery but that he would not feel right operating on my back. He said that in later years I might pay for that operation in more pain!! He said more physical therapy (which I have done repeatedly over the years) or more epidurals in my back. I have already done that too. He said pain management is the only thing that I have left. Guess what I have done that too!!

In all of these 12 years I have had tons of x-rays, gone to so many doctors, had a score of MRI's, taken medication, had physical therapy on top of physical therapy!! If we had all of the money that we have paid out we would be debt free now!!

There is not much more than I can do. I have to learn that this is the way I will be living!! i have to learn that my pain is probably here to stay.

I wanted to thank everyone who prayed for me yesterday!! i really felt the prayers!! I was calmer than I thought I would be... That was some test!! I am so glad that I took a couple of Zanex before the test...that really helped me a lot!! i saw the dye go into my spine and up on the monitor!! Dr. Baker knew that i was serious about this pain because I went through that ungodly test!!

I am taking it easy today from that trauma of yesterday!! I wish that I knew what was wrong...only God knows that now!!

We should remember to keep praying for Carolyn over at Talk to Grams. She is still having a rough time with her lungs now and her kidneys...go over and say hi to her. She will appreciate hearing from you.

I'm so sorry you didn't receive more encouraging words. Back pain is a tough one to deal with. Sounds like you have done everything possible to find the problem. Looks like with all the modern medicine available, they could find it. You hang in there and get the rest you need. God Bless.

I am sorry that you did not get the answer you were looking for. I pray that God grants you to wisdom and the strength to deal with this!

Oh sweet Sandy!! I just read your email that you sent to us all who have been keeping you in thoughts and prayers. That's a shame that there can be nothing done right now...but keep heart ---in years to come there may be something that modern medicine can do for you in time!!!

And really, money spent on health is very important....I'm sure you're thankful in so many ways that you had the means to pay for it. I understand what you mean tho, if we could ALL have the funds we spend on medical we'd be on a Caribbean beach right now, partying!! Right? [all of us together]

My father lived with constant pain in his back too...when he was young he had his back broken from a piece of farm equipment falling on him...never could do anything to make it heal properly and then he reinjured his spine when he lifted a transmission ....pain can be dealt with with a positive mind. At least he did so for nearly 50 some odd years.

Keep heart. And I continue to have you in my thoughts.

Thanks for the updating.

Right now you don't believe it, but God loves you--this is GOOD news! I had spinal surgery, and now three years later, I cannot stand--for even 30 seconds--without pain.

BTW: Herniated disks is the same thing as slipped disks. I had those too. Sometimes, they slip back in. Let's pray for that.

Hi Sandy, If you have to live with pain, make sure they give you pain medicine that will help you!!!

We have a male friend of Fred's who was also told by his doctor that surgery on his spine would not help him...this is sad that people can't get relieve from pain..

I went to Curves this morning, I got my 500 shirt!!I missed all of last week...Getting on the scales was bad , but a new year is coming and I am not worrying about it..

Take care and rest ... hugs,

In a way I am relieved you do not have to have surgery, but know the pain is bad. I can remember that very well. Just take the pain pills and the others as we talked about today and all will be fine. I am better tonight and may lick this too, who knows. Glad we are going to see you at Christmas, have something to look forward to. DAd is doing great too. Love you and have a good week, God is in control, so his prayers can be very powerful you know. Love you Mother & Dad

I am so sorry that there will be no definite relief from all your pain, Sandy. I wish there was a better answer to all that you have experienced so far.

Ohhhh dear... Sandy, I am so sorry. I really was hoping your doctor WAS going to be able to fix it... but I have known others -- my brother for one, who could not be helped also. That is just the worst news. Well... it's just up to God! We will all just have to pray for HIS healing for you. He CAN do it! So pray I will!

And yes... I've been praying for Carolyn too... matter of fact, I prayed for both of you at Advent service tonight.

Hi Sandy, I too am sincerely sorry there was not the answer with surgery that you had hoped for! Yet, I see God's hand in the honesty of your surgeon. Too have the pain worsen in years ahead would have been unthinkable I'm sure. Whenever God brings you to mind..I will be lifting up prayer for you. My heart is sad for you. We will pray and hope in the Lord. Jeremiah 32:27
Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?.... My husband has a hern.disk and has much pain at times...and I forget about the disk...but other times he's ok. His main misery is from the neuropthy in his feet. He has one year yet before retirement and his job keeps him on his feet...burning pain or not. ~~~Yes! =), I love being a Grandmother...Nana. We only see our grandchildren about every 3 months. They were here about 6 weeks ago and are making the long trip again for Christmas. 4 days together coming up soon... then they have a day on each side of that for travel. ~~I got a flu shot yesterday and had to sign a paper (first time ever) saying I could get sick for 24 hours..and we went off to prayer meeting and I had to come home. Abdominal cramping and not feeling well. Ever since my colonoscopy last Dec. I have tenderness on my left side but the surgeon I went to said he felt nothing Well, I'd better get my day started..just had to come by and see how you were. Trusting that the Lord will heal or bring things to your mind to help greatly. love, Maggie

Dearest Sandy,

I guess it's like being told..."you have to live with the pain". I'm so sorry that the doctor had no solution to your pain except for to do everything you've done already. At least he was honest and told you that surgery would not help...too many doctors these days operate for nothing! My prayers continue to be with you and that your pain eases at least. xoxo

I love the way the doctor was so honest about your back operation and I guess he knows best... thanking of you every day dear friend. Lee-ann
