Savannah Christian Spontaneous Baptisms

Click to play Savannah Baptisms

We had the MOST exciting weekend at our church Savannah Christian!! I wanted to share it with you but could not figure out how!! Some of my pictures are not the best but I tried!! Not a professional plus it is hard with so many people there....

First to tell you what our church did!! To begin with, we had cardboard testimonies. If you would like to see what this is just go to Godtube.com and type in cardboard testimonies and you will see. I had known what was going to happen and wondered just HOW would people take this...God was working!!

Our pastor, Cam, preached on baptism and how important it is since Jesus had been baptized by John and commanded us to follow his example after our salvation!! Then at the end he said, "Well, now we are going to do something that might be akward or awesome!! BELIEVE me it was AWESOME!!

People were asked to come forward and be baptized on the spot in a big pool that had been erected in the center of our worship center. Ladies were given dark shirts or robes...they removed their shoes, glasses etc. Cam and another one of our pastors, Brian, got in the water in their clothes and waited for people to come. This they did right away!! In the first service 26 people were baptized!! I cannot tell you the awesomeness of this whole thing!! It was very emotional and crying was everywhere!! What a blessing for our church family.

We thought it was over and then here would come 2-3 more people to wash away their sins!! Finally we ended our first service with the whole congregation walking away kind of stunned!! It was just more than I could handle..Many tears and may kleenexs were used.

Hubby M had to stay and work the 2nd service as head usher, so I stayed and came back in to hear the end of the sermon and also to see second service baptisms. Again, just as awesome as the 1st service. This time 18 1/2 came forward..Hubby M said he had to count the half because one lady was very pregnant!! smile!!

We went home last night completely blessed from the wonderful service!!! There were two more services this morning. I wondered all morning how many came forward to do what Jesus has commanded us to do!!!

If you are a Christian and have not been baptized please consider praying about this step of obedience that Jesus has commanded us to do...

What a night..Just had to share..

FLIP FLOP
Thought for the day: "Acts 16:30-33" "What must I do to be saved, Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved--you and your household."....."He and all his family were baptized"....AMEN!!

Praise God for such precious blessings.

Did you mean to say, "wash away their sins"? I thought baptism was a symbol of the fact that lives had already been changed with sins already forgiven.

Anyway, people are moving in the right direction--following Jesus's example.

I hadn't been by in a few days to see what you have been up to, so thought I'd stop in and say howdy.

Wow, Sandy, that is just AWESOME! DS 2 took part in cardboard testimonies here not long ago. It's an amazing thing. And I LOVE the fact that it was kind of spontaneous baptisms. That is how I was baptized and let me tell you, it was such a memory for me.

Hugs,

What an awesome thing to attend, and great words of wisdom, Sandy. I can only imagine the level of emotion there that day. We have a baptismal in our church, so they are done usually one at a time, and those are always such days of celebration. Seeing that many baptized at one time -- Amen!! :)

What a beautiful beautiful post....... What a thrill to watch as believers submit their lives to water baptism. When we were pastors of our church we baptized 12 people.... It was an exciting time..

It sounds like it was an awesome day. I was wondering where that 1/2 person was coming from. Glad you explained it. ;)

That is just awesome... thanks for sharing. Your church was blessed indeed and I'm glad you could be a part of such a big event. It is amazing to see the Holy Spirit at work. I'd never heard of cardboard testimonies and I can't wait to check it out. Thanks for letting me know about it!

WOW!!! This WAS exciting!!! WOW! Ya know... I guess because I was baptized as an infant, I can't even IMAGINE being a Christian and NOT being baptized... I wonder why people who have accepted Christ as their savior would NOT choose to be baptized? I would think that would be the FIRST thing you wanted after being saved! This was just an awesome post Sandy! Thanks for sharing it!!!
