The Other side of Pain

Finally, I have arrived at that Other SIDE!! It took over 3 days to really start feeling better. Pain is a bad thing. It gets into your body and then completely drains the JOY that you once felt, right out!! I can say now that i am feeling like myself once again!!

I have some nicely colored arms now too!! My left and most traumatized arm has a nice shade of red, a big stripe of white and then brown bruising below that. Since yesterday, on my right arm I have a nice black/blue/purple color there from having my blood drawn. Oh well, I love color...right?

Pain is still with me, but it is that kind where somehow I have to tolerate it. To explain what I feel....When I am sitting i feel like I am sitting on two exposed bones in my hips. Think about that!! The pain is awful especially as the day goes on. When I told the doctor that she said that it sounds like sciatica...everyone tells me that but does nothing about it. I am on a new medication for nerve problems so we will see if it helps.

Enough of that...I have tried to visit some of you but I am so behind in so many things since i was so off of the beaten normal path of my life. i will try to get to you. So many have stopped by saying that they have been praying for me. I want to thank you so much for all that you do for me. Some of you I may never meet in this life time but I feel like i already know you. Blogging creates a family of a type!! I so enjoy all of my blogging friends. I also try to pray for those of you that live with problems every day. Thank you for writing while I was so down!!

Winter has seemed to arrive here in sunny Savannah. We are 41 this morning!! Hubby even turned the heat on this morning!! Now I know that most of you have NO IDEA about hubby's idea of starting up the heat!!

When we lived in Illinois for all those years he was a stickler on not using our heat. Of course then we had oil and it was so expensive for us. We were raising 3 kids and keeping them in a Christian school which also cost us a pretty penny!! His idea was that we could stand it until the 31st of October!! Hm!! Some years were colder than others but the kids just somehow knew that Dad would NOT turn the heat on until October 31st.

Course in Illinois it was nothing like here. We are warm here until November....usually!! One night we had some friends out to eat. I tried my best to get him to turn the heat on...Company is coming!! Any excuse of course. Sure I could go turn it on, but I also knew that we were watching every penny just to keep things going!! I also knew how hard he was working..sometimes two jobs just to keep the kids in school, bills paid and me to be a stay at home mom.

The company came and we knew them well..so i said to them let's make Hubby miserable about it being too cold in here...Incidentally it was close to the "magic date". I remember that I fixed spaghetti that night. The kids were eating in another room from us. We told him that our spaghetti was freezing before it made it to our mouths. We kept it up long enough that...You guessed it..Our heat came on that year...EARLY!!

Funny that every time we FIRST turn on our heat that story comes to my mind!! I have a great hubby..believe me!! God was just doing one of his greatest miracles when he found my husband!! He just tries to keep things going here for us and he wanted to make ends meet for us and let me be at home with the kids.

So today we have some heat. When he turned it on he said (even now with just the two of us and of course Annie our cat!!)....He said..."Just to take the chill off"....Funny...just for me of course!! Marriage is a marvelous thing. You learn to live with each other no matter what the small things that some times either drive you crazy or make you laugh!! Again that is a choice so I choose to LAUGH!!

I'm glad that you're finally leaving that nasty Pain City. I hate to tell you, but there's not much help for Sciatica pain. To make things a bit better, you've been Boo-ed! Come find out what that means. :-O

Ohhhhh I'm so glad you are feeling better! You are right - pain is just the worst. Of course, fortunately it does come in "degrees" and it is not ALL intolerable! Most of it I dare say is quite tolerable - just annoying! That's the kind I have! But I've HAD the intolerable and I do sooooo feel for you! I do hope you are still going to try a chiropractor too! I really do think he/she would be able to help!

That is a great story about the heat! Dennis doesn't LIKE to run the heat - but he's the one who will turn it on before me - because he gets COLD before I do! You know... I've got all my "layers" to keep me warm! Ugh! :)

I'm so happy your feeling better, that's a very painful thing to have and almost impossible to get rid of. My husband suffered with that for a couple years. But, he finally found a doctor that told him he would give him an epidural shot in his spine. The first time it didn't work, but the second time the doctor got it right on target and he hasn't had a problem since then. Get well soon.

Hugs,
Chris

I'm glad you are feeling a little better. Pain is certainly no fun. I had my surgery yesterday and am surprised I don't have pain, other than not being able to shower for 2 weeks. (I'll keep my distance..lol),
Woke up this morning with horrible chest congestion and breathing problems. I call my doctor and hopefully he'll call something in.

Continue to rest and get your strength back.

I had Sciatica pain and that hurts very very much , it takes about a month to feel normal again, after that don't lift anything heavy for a while,I am sorry you feel so crappy.
My hubby hates to have the heat on too early too, we always have to wait till we almost see our breath in the airm but he is getting older tand its going on sooner rather than later ((LOL)
Let others take care of you dont over do it.

Hi Sandy, you were asking me about RVing on my blog. So I wanted to come over and give my idea about RVing. This is our 4th RV since 2000 and we now have the mac daddy RV. It is a quad slide,40', diesel pusher. It has all the bells and whistles. Now that being said, me or my husband could in no way do full time, it's not big enough. LOL, sometimes our house is not big enough.:) We know many people that do full time and love it.... My kids are in Florida, one mile from where we live, and although we are gone 4 to 5 months of the year, I still want my home for them to come to for the holidays.
Our friends do full time, they have their stuff in storage and travel all over the country. It works very well for them. I've often wondered about if we sold our home, then go to Florida for the winter, like a million other people do. But, I know for sure, I have to have a home.... So, if I were in doubt, I would surely do 5 or 6 months in a RV, to see if it worked for me.... Hope this is a help to give you something to think about.

Hugs,
Chris

Dear Sandy,

I'm just now catching up with your latest news...I'm so sorry to hear that you've been in so much pain lately:-( I do hope the new pills help and that you'll soon be 100% again.

We had no choice but to put on our heat about a month ago because we start having very cold weather so much earlier. I'm glad the price of oil is going down, what we paid for oil last year to heat up the house was ridiculous!! xoxo

Sandy, I'm glad to hear you are gradually coming right. It certainly can't have been much joy for you and I'm sorry you've had to suffer so much. I get sciatica occasionally but certainly not to the extent you've had it, but I can sympathise...it's an awful pain, especially when there seems to be nothing that can be done.

Take care and I hope you keep coming along and getting better each day.
