OUR CHRISTMAS PARTY!!

Hubby and I went to a Christmas party last night at the home of the head of the ushers at our church!! This is about our 3rd year to go so we should be ready for almost anything. We both dressed up in our red tops and black pants. For some reason we always pick the same colors!!

We arrived at this beautiful home in Southbridge. This is a very exquisite group of homes that hubby and I would never in a million years be able to live. Once a year, though, it is fun to go and see how the "other half" live.

We knew we were at the right home because it was ablaze with white lights and music. (Their electric meter was probably whirling!!) I was just amazed at the front of the house!! NO, I did not take my camera!! I wish that I had because trying to explain the outside of this house will be very challenging for me. They had taken 2 women manequins and placed on one a wire. She was dressed in the frilliest dress. She was lighting the top of a tree. The other one was standing close to the door all dressed in gold and silver!! There were at least 50 poinsettas all around in a huge circle under the flying angel. On the garage door a movie was playing!! Music was also coming from one of the trees. A large beautiful nativity was at the front door. The whole house was lit up in white twinkle lights!! I was just in rapture standing there looking at that. I felt like a little kid. I kept saying.."Look at that!! Look at that!!" Thankfully I was not the only one though. Everyone was just in awe over the front of this big house.

We went in!! I had remembered this home from last year. As we entered i saw that it was all decorated at the entrance in black and white. There was a white feather tree with a pair of black and white spectator heels with candles and white marbles in them...yeap shoes!! The hostess was right there and asked me to pick a bottle off of this white feather tree. I pointed at one and saw that it was full of something..perfume!! She put some perfume on my wrist and welcomed me to her home!! OKAY!! Next we all received necklaces with big bells on them. If you said the word NO you lost your necklace!! I won this game 2 years ago.

Next we saw that this year we were having a sit down meal. There were approximately 35 people there. This hostess had completely redone her home since last Christmas. i mean completely!! Where big book shelves used to be they were not longer there. She had decorated the whole living room in black and white!! Beautifully decorated too..Like out of a magazine that we would buy!!

We sat down at a table for 4 with a couple that we know. The tables had huge centerpieces that were from some Southern Living magazine!! We had red charger plates at each setting with beautiful flat ware!! We were served our Caesar Salads.

While waiting for the main course, we played a game. This was a fun one. Each table was given a sock filled with 10 little things. We had to come up with all 10 in 12 minutes. We got 8 right!! We tried hard. All through the night the hostess drew out names and great gifts were for us to pick from. My hubby got a gift!! Lucky him.

Our main course came which was fried chicken (I don't like it); green beans; stuffing with pecans. We were all in heaven eating that food!! Then that was taken away and dessert was shown to us. I had chocolate chip cheese cake because it was the smallest!! Yummy and good!!

More gifts were given out. I lost my bell pretty much at the beginning with a trick question!! I just decided that I was not going to worry about it and could say NO all that I wanted too!! smile!!

We had a short meeting, sang some Christmas carols and the party was over. I wish that i could describe the inside of that home!! So luxurious!! We came back to our little home and both of us said we liked ours just fine!!

I just thought you might like to hear about our party!! WE had a good time mingling with the "other half".....smile!! Now back to reality today!!

Hope you are all finished Christmas shopping!! I am done!! I have to work this afternoon for a while then done until Monday!! It is raining cats and dogs here!! We need it though. I heard that we have 4 inches already. My head is not liking this. When the weather changes my head aches. Hopefully no migraine but i would not be too sure yet!! smile.

Have a Happy Day!!

Wow! I enjoyed hearing about your night out...I can't even imagine such wealth (or decorating!). Sounds like you a great time =). It sounds like something out of Southern Living....lol. I'm cleaning this morning...our daughter & her little family arrive the 26th. My book collections etc...etc..now are clutter that have to be moved somewhere? grin temporarily. I'd rather have our girl home for a while than all the stuff of a lifetime. You know what I mean...=). Merry Christmas! Thank God for His great love! is what a friend from church wrote on his card to us....it stuck in my heart..how true.

It seems that you enjoyed the party very much. Your house description was excellent I could see the house ! I am sure your living room is far more cosy then a black and white one, how depressing !

Wow, your description made it seem like I was there. But, there is no place as sweet as home sweet home.

What a wonderful way to celebrate the season. The way you described everything made me feel like I was right there celebrating along with you, and I really enjoyed myself.

Thanks for sharing the party.

What do you mean you didn't bring your camera???? What kind of blogger are you??????? hehe That house sounds like one my cousin's daughter has...she married a millionaire and their house is a mansion and to see it decorated at Christmas is unbelievable. I always feel like the "poor folk" when I go visit there! lol I'm so glad you had such a fun time at the party...as you say, though, it's always nice to come back to your own home and reality:-) xox

Fancy going out without your camera, Sandy! Don't worry, I do it all the time...lol. The house sounds fabulous though.

Yes, you're right...you knew I'd get a kitten given to me. Between you and me, I thought so, too. She's a dear wee kitty and already likes sleeping on my bed! Hmmmm.

It's always fun seeing how "the other half" lives but I am always grateful that I have a home, not just a house.
Sounds like a magazine layout and not a real family lives there. I am glad you enjoyed yourselves.
My daughter and my grands and me, of course, were at the mall tonight about 6:30. I stopped by Curves to meet you and they were closed. Maybe next time.
Merry Christmas,
Linda

Sounds like it was a lovely party. It's nice to do that sort of party once in a while. I like living in my little house in the country, thankyouverymuch. I don't think I could handle a mansion... or the decorating... or the bills.
