GRANDMA'S DAY TODAY

What would everyone do without a grandmother? That is the question that I have been asking myself today!! Hm!!

Today both of my grandkids needed picked up at their schools. One got off from pre-school at noon. One got off from elementary school at 3:15. I picked each one of them up, came home, fed them, did homework, fed them again and then off to the PTO meeting where our oldest granddaughter is to perform tonight in a play about Hansel and Gretel.

Both Mommy and Daddy try to never work on the same days. They are both nurses. Mommy is part time and of course Daddy is full time, but today it did not work out like that. Of course, Mommy is kicking herself (guilt trip) trying to figure out how this happened and why the school does not let them know sooner so that they can rearrange their schedules. Mommy has finally got some time off and is going to meet us there at the school.

I told my daughter that this is what happens when you work. The great things that your kids do sometimes you have to miss them even though you want desperately to be there for them. Our granddaughter has a part tonight too( wouldn't you know). I think it is only a one liner but it is important to her mommy and daddy!!

I have been thinking that I should go look for a job to help around here. How would everyone get along if Grandma gets a job...a REAL JOB? Grandpa has a meeting tonight and he could not help so that left only me...Grandma again!! Who would be there to take our granddaughter and grandson to school and who would be there to watch her do her line with her witch/bunny mask on?

Personally, I think I already have a FULL TIME REAL JOB? Don't you? I do not make a lot of LONG GREEN STUFF but I bet you that I am making a lot of memories for some mighty special children in my life. Some that I am hoping will always remember their grandmother. I had two special grandmothers in my life that I will never forget. I want my grandchildren to always remember me with fond memories when they think of me.

I have always loved this quote. I have NO IDEA where it comes from but I think it tells it like it is:

"A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove, but the world maybe different because I was important in the life of a child".

I just really do like that quote!! Nice don't you think!! So for all of you grandmothers out there have fun being one!! I know sometimes it is hard but believe me I think the pay off will be wonderful in the end!!!

What a great post, chock full of truth and love. You have the most important full time job a Grandma could have! Being there for our loved ones is something money can't buy and is priceless.
