"R-E-S-P-E-C-T Find out what it means to me R-E-S-P-E-C-T Take care, TCB ", remember this Aretha Franklin big hit?

When I was a child I was raised to respect older people. I knew that if someone was older than I was then I was to be polite to them and to understand SINCE they were older than I they knew more than I did. Well, now since I AM the OLDER one I just figured that my TIME had finally came for me!! DUH!!!

I personally think it is the culture and the age of technology that we find ourselves living in. I don't think that gives the younger generation any excues though. I still think they need to learn to remember to use their manners!! I wonder if some know what manners really are!!

I had one incident that happened that actually made my 61 year old's blood boil!! This young girl came down from the offices upstairs at my church where I was working at the front desk. I was sitting at the desk in front of the computer working. She did not ask me to please get up or anything just sort of slid into my chair and started taking over the computer. She never even acknowledged that I was even there. It was like I was a wall not a person. She acted like I had NO knowledge at all about computers. The sad thing is that I do!!

Young people think just because you are over 50 that you probably have not taken the time or do not WANT to take the time to understand even how to TURN one on. Come on now people!!! Yes, there are some of those older adults out there like this...BUT NOT ME!! I decided that I would try my best to keep up with technology and I find it fun!

Why put us "all" in a BIG GROUP with the HEADING....."ALL ADULTS OVER 50 are COMPUTER STUPID"

Or maybe it is like we are over 50 are going around with signs around our necks with this wording on it. I don't know but..... whatever! I am just here to tell you that it infuriates me to death!!

I am waiting for my R.E.S.P.E.C.T. How much longer do I have to wait?

Hello to you! Thanks for visiting knitting kat and leaving me a comment. I came right over to get acquainted....smile. I agree with you, respect is something that used to be expected and came with the territory. Being gracious and polite have 'gone out of style' for some of the younger generation. Why, I'll never know but I can sympathize with you. I must say, I've 'met' a lot of young women in the blogging community that are very sweet and gracious. Its like a family community, and heartwarming.

Just came by to say I was a 'child' bride too...*grin*. Actually I am 58 and thankful for each year from the Lord. After a bleak childhood, I am enjoying a rich and blessed adult life...all thanks to God my Lord and Saviour. Hope you have a nice day!
