I thought that ya'll might like to see the hanging quilt that my mother made for me. She took several old hankies and put them together and made a hankie quilt.
She loves to quilt. She lives in Illinois and quilts a lot. I have tried it and am not at all good at it. I have made some pillow tops but not near like the ones that my mother can make.
Some of these hankies are very old. I don't know if you can see the one in the middle but it has my name on it. I remember having it for years and years.
When I was little we did not have kleenexes, puffs or whatever you want to call the ones that you throw away today. We always had the cloth kind that mother had to wash and then had to iron. That was one of the first things that I learned how to iron with my little iron. I had to heat the bottom of the iron on the stove and then take the hankie and iron it. I thought I was really big I suppose but I learned to iron while Mother was ironing our big clothes.
She ironed everything then. WOW!! I am so glad that things have changed, aren't you???
The little doll was left at our church for a long time and I just could not see it not have a family...SO I brought him home!!
Hope you enjoy my quilt wall hanging!!

Ahh....I'm in purple puddles here! How sweet! Great place to hang it also. What a nice idea she had. I think you'd better keep her!

I loved seeing your hankie quilt...its just lovely! Your Mom is a very talented quilter. This quilt is really special. I enlarged the picture to get a better look...smile. And, yes, I'm glad times have gotten easier for the homemaker. I appreciate all the modern conveniences.
