Today is my dad and mother's 62nd wedding anniversary!! For those of you who are privileged to have your parents still with you and are as "OLD" as I am you will appreciate the way that I am feeling today!!

I have always had parents!! That is quite a feeling as you all understand!!
I am almost 61 years old. It is just amazing to realize that I have lived this long and still have my parents. Most of my friends have lost either one or both of their parents by this time. I consider myself very fortunate.

Being a parent myself, I know how much my parents gave up for myself and for my brother in order to raise both of us.

My dad was a tenant farmer. He worked from sun up to sun down. My mother stayed home and took care of us. She did not drive. If she did there was not a car there for her to drive. If I remember right she did learn to drive later on. We always lived in the house that came along with the job. Believe me I remember some of those houses. They are not the wonderful homes that you see people living in today. I never remember being unhappy. Kids today would be very upset to be living in the homes that my brother and I had to live in. (Course today kids are utterly and beyond reason spoiled to death)

My parents are 81 and 87 now. They live in a comfortable mobile home and have a lot of nice friends. They both have a lot of aches and pains but then again we all do. My dad survived World War II and my mother survived my brother and I. That makes them both heros in my eyes.

Have a great day today Dad and Mother. Here's to many, many more anniversaries for you both!!!

It took me becoming a parent to realize what my parents did for us kids and what we put them through. I love them to death.
