Just One Gardenia

Yesterday when I was outside watering my thirsty plants, I noticed that my FIRST gardenia had bloomed...They have such a fragrance that i just cannot resist..Similar to my Illinois favorite of lilacs!!

I just could not let that little lone gardenia hang there so i clipped it off and brought it in to my cute little glass vase!!

This morning as I was in the kitchen I thought how fragrant just one little gardenia can be..Just one..It does not take a bouquet..but "Just One gardenia".

That made me think about being a Christian. We need to show the light of our Lord no matter if sometimes it is JUST one...us that is doing the shining. We ourselves, if we are true to God, have that fragrance that God gives us as his people.

We can show this to others, to our neighbors, to those in the stores, to our friends and most especially to our families!! God puts in us his spirit..His HOLY SPIRIT on the day that we ask him into our lives...He gives us that special fragrance that only we can us for Him.

Today i want to be like my one little lone gardenia and be fragrant for God in all that I do!!

Good morning Sandy, I love to smell a Gardenia...that flower really sends out a great fragrance..

I just got home from Curves..the arch of my foot hurts and I placed an extra cushioned pad in my shoes what helped ..

It is wonderful that you will be spending Mother's day with your mom..I wish all of you a safe and uneventful trip.. see you when you return home..
Hugs, Barb

I hate being allergic to so many things! Gardenias are one of them... mostly when there are lots of them.

Love your analogy... just great!

Oh and what a beautiful gardenia it is:-) I've never tried growing that flower nor have I ever smelled it...as Mary mentioned, I'm not sure if we can grow them here in Ontario. Will have to check into that for sure! Enjoy your flower, dear Sandy. xoxo

I love gardenias. They rate up there with frangipani with regard to scent, to my mind.

We have a couple of gardenia bushes here. They took a beating in yesterday's storms, though!

What a great comparison. And I absolutely love gardenias. I had a gardenia corsage when I graduated from the 8th grade. It is pressed in my scrap book. We had 2 beautiful gardenia bushes when we lived in California. I can almost smell them now just thinking about it. I like the new look of your blog too.
