Thursday Things

I have a picture for you to see if you can tell me something about this old clock. I have tried researching here on line and will try some more..I believe that it might be an 1800 clock made by the Seth Thomas company!! If you are a clock person and know anything please let me know. We have some great bloggers out there so thought I would try. This is my neighbor's clock..Tootsie...It has two lions one on each side and above the round face are two cherubs.

Here is the side of the clock; Lion heads are there!!

Tootsie told me that it has set for 50 years and has not been working. Today she decided to get some WD-40 and try to get it to working...WELL it is back to ticking after all these years. It has a beautiful chime every 30 minutes..I am just curious as to its age...Let me know if you have any information..

CONFRONTATION:

I do not like this!! I will go to any length to put it off too..Not one of my favorite things to do. Well today I went to see this guy that I needed to let him know how I felt. I had all of my "Adjectives" in my mind as to what I wanted to say!! Got to where I was going and he was busy and there were way too many people in there for me to feel comfortable!! Now what do i do? Well I think a nice note might be the thing for me to do now!! Boy, I have had a time all my life being confrontive!! Anyone else have that problem? I used to have the biggest anger problem when I was younger but have learned that you never hurt anyone else with the anger....Just yourself!! I always got headaches and felt like a regular dummy after my outbursts...NOW...just ask Mike I am very even tempered!!

Remember I told you about the shower that I went to this past Sunday...My nail technican is having another baby girl and all of her kids are named Alex??? Well here is a picture of that family.

WE had another cold day here in the South East!! But it makes it feel more like winter for a change. I still wear my light felt coat and others are all bundled up with gloves and scarfs..oh well!!

I have been wanting to put a puzzle together. I have not done that in years now. So Tootsie gave me one that looks like I will be at it for years!! Garrett saw it and said boy that will take an hour!! Nope not an hour for 1000 pieces...

FLIP FLOP
Thought for the day: "If the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning is eat a live frog, then nothing worse can happen for the rest of the day!"

What a NEAT old clock that is! I don't know a thing about it -- but it sure looks ollllllld! Cool that she got it tickin'!

I do not like being confrontational either. I hate it. I used to just jump in and say what I had to say - and I always ended up looking the fool - because usually I misinterpreted something... or took something the wrong way... so I learned over the years to USUALLY be careful about how I confront people. I try to do it in a very non-confronting manner.

Garret's so cute! An hour! LOL!

Hi Sandy, the clock looks very antique... that is amazing that Tootsie got it working again...

Your nail tech looks so young to be having her third girl!!! A cute family...

We leave in the morning for Atlanta for a few days...to celebrate Olivia's birthday...
Talk to you later. Hugs, Barb

Are you serious...all her kids are named Alex??? How does she differentiate between them apart from their obvious differences. And what about at school? My mind boggles over the whole thing.

I'm not into confrontation but if I get mad enough I take a stand and I have learnt to do it without too much stress on myself...if that's possible. Good luck with the note, hope it does the trick.

Take care.

I have friends who are clock collectors and I will send the pictures them. They have some of the oldest clocks in PA at their home. I'll let you know what they think.

I don't know much about clocks except I can tell by looking that they are very old. I had one that was my Grandfather's clock. I gave it to my youngest niece.

The one you have posted here looks a lot like the one my niece now has.

Have a good weekend, Sandy.

Neat looking clock. Looks similar to the one that used to sit on my grandparents' mantel.

Me and confrontation... hardly ever happens. It's a doosie when it does happen :-)

I think it's great that the clock still ticks after so many years. Looks like it might be worth a lot of money...
The confrontation thing...
I was really angry with someone who had hurt me through one of my children, someone I really didn't know at all. I was seething with anger, but the day I decide to confront them, as I was doing my quiet time... the Lord confronted me and told me that I didn't need to go there... I needed to pray for this person and leave them to Him... I have often thought, maybe I would just check on them and see how it's working out for them. It has sure made me feel better!!!

Have no idea about the clock, but it is beautiful. We have two very old wall clocks that we had serviced last month. The man is in Oklahoma City and he is very knowledgeable and we found out that one of our clocks is 150 years old......... My gosh, we had no idea...... He cleaned it and got it running right and it sounds wonderful ! So if you have a person in your town that cleans and repairs he might know the age of the clock........ That is about all I can help with........

AND I am a non confrontational person... I got the most horrific hair cut the other day and I just walked out and cried and cried.. I should have told her that she needs to change her profession! I would have felt better!

Omigosh, Sandy!!! That exact same clock was sold at the auction I went to this past Sunday!!!!! The reason I remember it so well is that a lot of people were looking at it and everyone was fascinated with the lion's head on the side. Darn, I wish I would have paid more attention to it and what the auctioneer had said about it. I do remember him saying it was from around the 1920's but that's all I remember. It went for $175!! Wow, this is just such a coincidence:-)

Like you, I absolutely hate confrontations and will try to avoid them at all cost! lol Whenever I have tried to confront someone, I start crying!!

Good luck doing your puzzle, I use to be working on one all the time...but that was before I got a computer! hehe xoxo
