Thursday Thoughts

Home now after going to our first meeting this year at Precepts!! I just love this study!! We are on Daniel now..This should be a fun one since I have already studied Daniel with Beth Moore...Am really looking forward to what ever God has in store for me through this study.

Last night at church we had Kenny Grant again. He has a church here in Savannah. He has preached for us on several Wednesday nights and we all just love him. He is African-American and used to be a drill sargent!! He really gets up there and pours all of himself into what he is trying to get across to you..Last night it was on Victory!! What a night.

When we got home the phone rang..It was our granddaughter Madison. "Grandma I have a favor to ask you."
"Yes", I said.
"Do you know where in the bible it says that a brother is born for adversity?"....
"Not right at the moment", I replied. "Just give me a couple of minutes to find it and I will call you right back."

Well I knew it was either in Psalms or Proverbs and finally when I found it in Proverbs 17:17...It says.."A friend loves at all times, but a brother is born for adversity." Course we all know that the word brother here means all of us..man kind..but to Madison it meant..."Garrett"...her brother!! I had told her about all the problems and trials that I had had with my brother...So I had told her that it says that we girls will have troubles with our brothers in the bible...

I called her with the information. She could not understand what Proverbs 17:17 meant...Guess no one has told her that it is chapter and verse...Guess she needs to learn that...I am so happy that they come to church at least on Wednesday nights!! Makes me proud!!

It has turned off cool here...was in the 40's this morning!! Course being here in the South East has given me a new perspective of 40 degrees...it is not at all like the below 0 temps that I came from in Illinois. Here people get a little bit upset thinking that it is going to get that cold. I understand now from living here for almost 8 years..You get cold easier now. You will see people in coats, scarfs, gloves at this temp...and you might even see those in shorts and flip flops!! Very crazy!! I just put on a jacket and I am fine!! It is supposed to get colder as the weekend approaches.

My parents inside thermometer in December when we were there!!

Mikey did not find out much yesterday from the ENT appt...but what we mostly already knew...once those nerves are damaged in the ear that is it!! He has a bad ringing and has for a long time..most probably from power tools!! Now he has bought some ear protection and like the ENT doctor said...protect what you still have. He is going for an ear hearing test probably this next week.

That is about all the "news" from here!! Things are good and that is the way i hope it stays..Mikey's work as slowed down tremendously but we try not to think about it because this happens every year at this time..WE have made it before and we will MAKE it again...

Flip flop
Thought for the day: "The happiest of people don't have everything. They just make the best of everything that they have." Wish we could all learn this...

Brothers can sure be a pain in the neck sometimes, I know, I have four of them.
The Message says "Friends love through all kinds of weather, and families stick together in all kinds of trouble."
Some translations say a brother is born of adversity. Meaning they are there by your side.
I may have problems dealing with my brothers sometimes, but when there is trouble, they are there for me and versa visa.

Your Kenny Grant sounds like quite a character! I bet I'd love to hear him preach!

I wonder what Maddie was UP to needing that verse! Did you ask her that?

Slippin' Mike's job back into my prayers - for THIS time of year again! It is a toughy...

Love you!

So sorry for the bad news from the ENT guy. That's disappointing.

Disappointing news for Mike, but I guess that's life, isn't it? My father was a sheetmetal worker in the Navy dockyards and become deaf because of his work. But because it was work related the Govt provided him with hearing aids for free.

I know what you mean by feeling the cold. Living in our climate where it's warm all the time...winter is cooler but not cold by southern standards...I'm a total wimp in temps less than 24 C.

Take care and don't get cold! Lol!

It is cold here in Tampa Bay too. 37 tomorrow night with a high of 57, pretty cold for this neck of the woods.

Hugs,
Chris

Being the only girl with 4 brothers, I know exactly how Madison feels! lol

I'm so glad you're enjoying the Precept meetings. Kenny Grant sounds like he's a good preacher...some people just seem made to do that:-)

It was almost -40F here this morning and we're supposed to stay in that deep freeze another few days. I'm getting cabin fever! lol xoxo

I love your 'hello' with the heart...its the prettiest thing! I've been offline for a week or so. I think you asked about rooting violet leaves...yes, thats all there is to it. Just snip a leaf and poke a little hole in plastic wrap over a glass of water and put its little 'let' in the water. ~~Your grandchildren sound so sweet...we only have 2, and the oldest turns 5 this week.
