65th Wedding Anniversary

My Dad and Mother..I like this picture!!

Today is my parents, 65th Wedding Anniversary..Already!! How the years have flown by so quickly no one really knows for sure but they have!!

I talked to Mother yesterday and she was having quite the time understanding this big date too!! I had written to everyone that I knew that knows Dad and Mother. I wanted them to have a card Shower and that is exactly what has happened for them..

They have received some 19 cards since I last talked to her and am hoping that they get a ton more today and the rest of this week...they so deserve this..I live too far away to have a party for them so this is going to have to do for now...I am so proud to have my parents for such a long, long time in my life!! How amazing!! I would have NEVER thought I would have them this long...God is Good!! He let them live long enough to accept HIM as their Savior too and that is the most awesome miracle!!

Canasta Sunday:

Yesterday Mikey and I had fun playing canasta in the afternoon!! I never can beat him no matter how hard I try!! He just makes plans sitting there looking "poker faced"..so he is hard to beat...BUT...I beat him in the first game...I was so Happy!! Then we played again and he beat me..Okay so I won ONCE..

We played another game and GUESS WHAT??? I won...so I beat him 2 out of three games..By that time it was time to get to our small group!! This will probably never happen again so to prove it....

Not the best picture but PROOF!!

We had a great time. In fact, we had a fun weekend. I love just being with him. That is the most important thing. I miss him through out the week when he is gone but so happy to know that he will be coming home soon...The best sound in my world is the garage door opening in the late afternoon...Annie rushes to the stairs and I yell..Welcome Home!!

Mikey yesterday getting his attack ready!!

Live each day one day at a time and be thankful for the awesome blessings that are in your life..Look at the small things too. I think I am really learning these lessons lately!!

Thought for the day: "In all things...Pray before doing!!"

If I read the story of your fun Saturday with Mikey and didn't know you better I would think you were two young newlyweds. It gives me great joy hearing how much you two care about each other.

Ohhh I used to LOVE to play canasta! It's been so long now, I've forgotten how! I should learn again, and then teach Dennis... maybe he would like it. THAT would be fun!

Happy Anniversary to Mom & Dad! (I know she's reading this...) 65 years! Wow!!! Isn't that wOnderful!

Grrrrr, Blogger just ate my comment!! Let's try this again...

Happy Anniversary to your wonderful parents! It certainly is quite an achievement these days to be married 65 years. You're also very blessed to still have them around, enjoy every second of it:-)

I play Canasta with Steve online all the time but have never played it in person! lol Good for you for beating Mikey 2 out of 3 games...I would frame that score sheet if I was you! hehe

Hope your day is going well. I'm in the middle of cleaning out the pantry and the kitchen cupboards. Ugh! I thought I deserved a break, but the only problem is now that I'm sitting at the computer, I may not want to get back up! lol xoxo

I've never played canasta but have played 500. Although I'm not really a card player, I prefer games like Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit.

Anyway, well done on winning at least two games against Mikey...he must be quite the canasta player.

Sandy,

Congratulations to your parents on their 65th Anniversary. That is a milestone that not many see today. I just love the old photo.

The card shower sounds wonderful and I'm sure your parents loved receiving all of those cards. You're very lucky to still have both of your parents. Dad died in 1981. Mom is doing good, but I've noticed she has become frail in the last year.

Glad you and Mikey had fun playing Canasta and good for you for winning 2 out of 3. He must have had an off-day.

Blessings,
Mary

This is your old Mom and Dad, yes we made it another year. Dad loved the poem i wrote for him, I told him in it maybe we could make another year, sure hope so. Just finished scooping 4" snow off the porch, steps and car, so now we can go go go. Just hope tomorrow is nice so i can get to the Orthopedic surgeon and see what he has to say about my bum knee. Wish me luck and pray all goes well. Love your blog and thanks bloggers for your comments on our 65th. Love Mother & Dad
