Friday Show and Tell

Good Morning!! Today is Friday SHOW AND TELL!! If you would like to have fun with this just go to Kelli's site and sign in after you do a post!! It is just that easy and it is fun to see what everyone else has to show!!

Does anyone have an idea what this might be? I have always thought that it was a cookie
lifter...what do you think?

I got it years ago when I was cleaning for an older lady that had passed
away and so never found out completely what it is...

EDITING NOTE: Many of you have stopped and said this was several kinds of things. I guess it does not show just how large it really is...It is 6 inches long and 1 1/2" when closed. So it is not a pin or anything like that...Just thought you would like to know....

I have always loved this piece. This was given to my mother from my Uncle which would have been her brother-in-law. He was the sweetest man and always my favorite uncle. He had a heart problem when he was a child. He passed away on Father's Day while singing in the choir in his Baptist Church. He was in his middle 30's...so young!! I still miss him. Isn't this pretty???

Today is another lazy day for me. I have been so tired lately and just do not have any energy. I pull myself to Curves and have done that 3 times this week. I am writing down everything that goes into my mouth..I hate doing this but I have to lose this weight that has ONCE again found me. It just will not leave me alone. I have made a doctor appointment for next week so maybe I can find out some things. I am changing doctors. The one I have been with for some time made a very unprofessional remark to me when I was asking a very serious question that needed an answer. I found out later that he has done that to several women. Suddenly I was not as comfortable there and you would have been the same. I found a woman doctor that attends our church. I am SO HOPING that our relationship can be a good one. I need a good doctor..WE all do for that matter. As we age so many "STUPID" things start happening!! I really do hate it, but I am still alive and pretty well. Things could be worse.

Hubby M is coming home early today and says we will go see a movie this afternoon...WOW!! That is very unusual. I think he has one that HE wants to see but that is fine. To get to go to the movies is fine with me. I really do want to see "The Secret Life of Bees." It comes out today!! I read the book and if any of you want a good book and hopefully a good movie..go and also read it!! I really love that book.

Have a great weekend. Ours is going to be crammed packed once again. We or should I say I have the grands the whole weekend. Hubby is just going to have to help some!! Really he is!!

FLIP FLOP

Thought for the day: "When I was young we used to go "skinny dippin" now I just "chunky dunk."...I would never skinny dip no matter what size I was...the shower is as close as I get..smile...

I am at a slump with my weight. I can't seem to lose anymore. Sounds like you are going to a have a fun weekend and will have no problem sleeping, LOL

Hi Sandy, the item you are showing looks like an old diaper pin for a giant baby, or it could be a pin to use on your clothes to hold a brooch...

You are going to have a busy week-end with the grands, but one that will bring you joy!!

I hope the new doc will find out the cause of your fatigue..I love the white basket weave dish... so cute.I am sorry your uncle died so young..take care of yourself.
Hugs, Barb

Looks like an antique safety pin to me. Although I have never seen an antique safety pin. Boy, the losing weight thing is sure hard. I'm gradually gaining back the weight I lost a couple of years ago. I'm avoiding the scales again and that's not good.
Have a great weekend.

Well... my first thought for your "thing" would have been a safety pin... but NOT if it's that big! I have no idea...

I LOOOVED The Secret Life of Bees! That was one of the BEST books ever! Her other one - The Mermaid Chair, I think it's called - it was good too - but not AS good as the bees! I don't want to see the movie though... I'm happy with the way it plays in my head!

You guys have fun at the movies - and have a GREAT weekend too!

Hmmmm, I don't know what your thing could be. I like your guess of a cookie lifter. Your lacy bowl is beautiful. Sorry to hear your uncle dieing so young. My grandfather died when he was 33 of a heart attack.

Hope your new doctor works out. Depending on the remark your other doctor made, you may want to consider sending a letter to the Board of Medicine.

Have a fun weekend with the grands.

It looks like a handmade giant safety pin; my grandfather made one that looks quite similar, and it was about 6".

I'm sorry your doctor is a jerk. It's good that you have another to switch to.

Well like all the above I first thought maybe some kind of a large diaper pin, then again I wonder if it might be a pancake turner, who knows.
Yes I remember that pretty basket dish Byron gave me,he was such a sweet brother in law and loved by all. Don't think i ever heard your Dad cry so hard as when he died, he is really missed. Enjoy the grands they are very special, mine still are to me, love them all. God Bless you with the new Dr. weight does not seem to be my big problem, just these crazy old knees of mine, ouchy most of the time. Love you. Mother & Dad

I hope you feel better soon. You are right about this aging "stuff"! Good luck with the new doctor. I always try to do business with folks in my church, if possible. You can't go wrong when you deal with Christians, so good luck!

I have no idea about your show and tell... very interesting!

Have a great weekend!

If you have time, check out my latest blog, I got to meet a fellow blogger! YEAH!

Hi, I followed your link from Kelli's. This was my favorite cookie making tool before I switched to a mini ice cream scoop. To use it, dip up some chocolate chip cookie dough on the little shelf, hold it over the pan where you want the cookie and gently squeeze the handle together to release the dough onto the pan. No messy fingers to lick!

no wonder you are tired - i think it's still "vacation-lag" ...

love the show & tell ...

and your pic of annie, further down, was so sweet - poor thing being so afraid of the ride ... i think scooter would like to be riding with you - would you like me to send him there to keep annie company? *grin*

I don't have a clue what that item is, Sandy...

As for the weight, I know exactly what you mean and have come to believe that the older you get, the harder the weight is to shift! Then I think, Oh too bad, and go back to reading my book...heheh!

I have seen your find before, but for the life of me I can't pull out of my brain what it is. In my mind I see a tag attached to it, but don't know what kind or what it is for. Maybe I have early stage dementia :-) If I ever pull it out of my brain I'll let you know. I love the basket... so pretty and delicate. I like your thoughts for the day too :-)

I have no clue what your mystery item could be...please let us know...your Mother's dish is beautiful...

Blessings,
Susie

I see that your mystery item has already been identified correctly as an item for putting cookie dough on the cookie sheet. These are sold by Pampered Chef, at least they were at the last party I went to.
Enjoy reading your blog and keeping up with everyone.
