Decisions made at SCC

For those of you that read my blog faithfully...first thanks so much!! I am so humbled for that..

If you saw my blog from last Sunday and read about our spontaneous baptisms at our church then you will want to read this from our church. I thought it summed up the whole reason for why we decided to do this...This is an email that I just received from my church Savannah Christian..I wanted to share these blessings with you!!

Amazing week: Nearly 200 baptized

This past week, 196 men, women and children of all ages and races faced a defining moment in their lives and chose to be baptized at Savannah Christian.

At services on all three SCC campuses, dozens of members first shared testimonies. They held up cards that described their old lives then triumphantly flipped them over to tell of their new lives in Christ. "Happy hour queen - Daughter of the King." "Lonely, hopeless atheist - God-praising father and husband." "Emotionally abandoned - Unconditionally loved by Christ." "Alcoholic - Sober 10 years."

Senior pastor Cam Huxford then delivered a message about seeking God's intervention in our lives and publicly declaring His power as Lord and Savior through baptism - baptism on the spot, in the clothes people came to church in, in a pool into which he walked and waited for those who would come forward.

It could have been an awkward moment. Instead, it was amazing as people streamed down the aisles while applause thundered.

One newly married couple came to the Henderson campus 5 p.m. Saturday service. They felt the Spirit tugging at them but didn't come forward. They left but quickly turned the car around, came back and were baptized in the second service, unable to go home until they did. On Sunday morning, a woman declared that she gladly ruined her $400 dry-clean-only suit to publicly proclaim her faith. Another young woman wept as she explained that her baptism was another step in a return to Jesus and the faith of her youth after years of drug abuse. Nearby, two young men, shirts and hair dripping, happily told their story. They were cousins, each living lives that needed a new direction. They hadn't seen each other in more than a year until they spotted one another in line to be baptized. One had prayed for the other just the night before.

"I think this is a day our church and these individuals will remember as a defining moment for many, many years," said Cam.

Our mission statement is: "Leading people to a life changing connection with Jesus Christ"

Just wanted to share today!!
