Friday Show and Tell and other things!!

Today I am going to try out a new Friday thing!! This is called Show and Tell. If you are interested in joining I will put Kellie's website on here for you.

Welcome to “Show and Tell Friday!” Do you have something special to share with us? It could be a trinket from grade school, a piece of jewelry, or a treasured collection. Look around your home for something to share; dig through those boxes in your closet if you have to! Share photos and the story that goes with your special item.

I went right into my dining room where I could stay for a long time just taking pictures of things that were my grandmothers and my great grandmothers. Some day...soon...somehow I am going to have to give these things up. I guess now is a good time to start getting records of these great things...So I begin!!

This is my grandmother Smith's baby cup
as you can see her birth date is 1899. She was
my dad's mother

These were my grandmother's tea pots on
my mother's side of the family. My youngest
granddaughter really would LOVE to have these!!

These are old cookie cutters that were my mother's.
I did not know that they were worth something till I
read that if they have wooden handles that they are indeed
worth more....

In other things:

Have not felt the best but this afternoon I am much better!! Hm!! Slept in a little and then got right up and figured that if I did not get to Curves and walking in the mall that I would just feel worse...so off to do my thing!! You know, seriously, I hate exercise!! I just have to make myself because I am so afraid what will happen IF I don't go!!

I had a little tiny bit of shopping to do! My husband has a birthday this coming Monday (Labor day). Funny thing..His mother did LABOR on the correct day!! He is going to be 64 which just blows me out of the water for some reason!! This means that I have known him for 50 years!! FIFTY YEARS!! I just cannot get over that!!

I came home to find that our friend, Robert was still mowing our neighbor's yard in the back of us. I had recommended him to her. I was so surprised to see him still there. He had mowed and picked up and all for 3 hours!! WOW!! They had let their grass get way too tall!! While he was still working I called my next door neighbor to see if Robert could do theirs and sure enough now he is over there. This guy has been mowing since 9:00 this morning and it is now after 1:00. I just went outside and took him some lunch and something to drink!! He had to be famished!! He really needs the work!! (the HEAT is bad today too!!)

Not much else going on here. Hopefully hubby will be home at a decent time today!! I really miss having him here at home. I got so used to being with him every day on our vacation and well I sort of liked it!!

Hope you all have a great weekend. We are not doing a thing!! Just being at home!! Good enough for me.

Hey babe, hope you are feeling better. I'm somewhat overwhelmed by all the adversity going on in the world especially in India right now. Happy Birthday to Mike. Miss you.

Nice Show & Tell. One of my grandmother's was a Smith before she married. If there were a gazillion Smiths out there I might think we might be related.
Funny funny picture below.

I love the Tea Pots!!! [why do you say you'll have to give them up soon...for your family's legacy to be passed on to another generation?]

To answer your question - so far, no we're not in the way of Gustav. Not now anyway, but there are several days yet for the time it hits land, it may turn our way. Things like hurricanes you can only predict...mother nature will take its own course tho! [thanks for the concern!]

I'm really glad you decided to participate in Show n Tell...you'll be amazed at some of the blog entries. At least I have been.

Have a super Friday evening. I'm running a little behind in my visiting this afternoon since I've been scrubbing and cleaning all day. It's done...now I'm gonna crash in front of the TV a while. :o)

My laptop computer is in the shop at Circuit City... it got some kind of virus and the battery went bad and it crashed... I have a three year extended coverage on it and hope they fix it up ...At least I can use my desk top computer..

I am glad you joined show and tell Friday..you have many treasures to share..
Have a good week-end..Hugs, Barb

I love the cookie cutters. I have a few pieces from my Grandmothers and a few from my Mom. I come from a very large family so each member of the clan has something from my Mom's Mom.

I agree with the quote about loving your mate.

Hi Sandy. Thanks for sharing these beautiful mementos that have been passed on to you by family members. It's a wonderful tradition to hand down beautiful and memorable things. Those are cute cookie cutters. The tea pot set is beautiful.

Advance Happy Birthday to your husband. Wishing him best of health.

How kind of you to give that man lunch and drink. Little acts of kindness goes a long way.

Thanks for visiting my blog. I feel much better now. Yes, that breathing test wasn't easy at all. It took a lot of effort.

Take care!

I have a little brown teapot verrrrry similar to those! Dennis got it for me from an antique store several years ago - for my birthday! :)

Dennis is leaving tomorrow for Pennsylvania for a week - and then I leave the following Saturday for the beach! So he and I will not SEE each other AT ALL for 4 weeks! We've NEVER been apart that long before!

Hope you and Mikey have fun celebrating his birthday! I don't have any plans for this holiday weekend - but we will celebrate my birthday next Friday - cuz Krysti will be home. MY mother labored ME on Labor Day too! How funny! I was born way early the following morning - on my sisters first day of kindergarten!

Mom had some of the cookie cutters you have shown. I don't know what ever happened to them. I've had a very busy day. Isn't it strange how some days you are on the go all day and others are very quite.

Glad to hear you are feeling better, and wish hubby a Happy Birthday.
