Thursday Thirteen

Crazy or silly things about me
BROUGHT to you by
the letter
R
  1. Retired: Yeap I once was!! In fact as of the end of this March it had been 7 years!! But alas I am back to working part time at CURVES!! SIGH!!
  2. Red: It is not my favorite color but I love wearing red!! It always makes me feel good and happy!!
  3. Rural: I grew up in the country on a farm. Seems like we were always moving but we stayed within 2 towns. We were mostly grain farmers. Some times though we had pigs, cows, sheep and very tall windmills!! My brother and i would have a lot of fun in the country finding things to do!!
  4. Ron: This is my one and only brother. He is about 3 1/2 years younger than me. My hubby also has a younger brother named Ron and they are the same age!! How about that!!
  5. Receptionist: I have had this job a lot!! I love doing it but it requires a lot of sitting and some fun with the callers too!! The one job I simply loved was at our church in Bloomington, Illinois. I would get from 100-150 callers on most days. I remember the worst one though. A lady called telling me that she was going to kill herself. i kept her on the line as long as i could but she hung up. I sat there and cried!! I never knew what happened to her.
  6. Roger: Our son in law!! They live here in Savannah and he is an RN!! Works in the ER at a big hospital here and just loves it...NOT my cup of TEA for sure!!
  7. Roller Skates: I love to roller skate. When we were young we would go to the roller rink and skate for hours. My dad learned to skate at a later age in life but loved it. Now i would be afraid because when i fall "I BREAK"!! (i still have my old skate key)!!
  8. Radio Flyer: I love the little miniature ones. I have some collected and a couple of bigger ones too. So cute!!
  9. Rebecca: The name of our youngest daughter!! She was born 1 month premature weighing in at 4 lbs. 6 1/2 ounces...She was so very tiny!! We brought her home in 6 days at 4 lb.s 4 ounces!! In 6 weeks she went to 9 lbs!! Good feeding and caring for her....
  10. Responsible: Yeap that is me!! I have been since I was young. I think it comes with being the oldest child in the family. You just seem to take on that status!!
  11. Redeemed: Yeaper you are right!! I am definitely that!! Only through the Grace of God!!
  12. Roses: one of my favorite flowers that for some reason I CANNOT grow them here or back in Illinois!! BUT i dearly love them!!
  13. Ranch house: Some day hubby and i would LOVE a home without steps!! We love our home now but OH it gets harder and harder on us to go up and down all of these 14 steps!! Maybe one day if not here then in HEAVEN!!

Oh yes...........I love the tall wind mills. Just like your hubby! They're simply terrific. Brings out the 'country' in me.

Great "R" day list. I loved my roller skates with that special key. Wish I still had them to display somewhere.

Sandy,

Enjoyed your post. Aren't those Radio Flyers something? I remember those though we weren't lucky enough to ever own one.

I too love windmills as well as old barns. The country girl in me sees these things as icons of bygone days.

Thanks for the great post. Enjoyed my visit and thanks for stopping by and commenting on our family's babies.

Blessings,
Mary

I just got back from the Y. I do 30 min. cardio and 2 rounds on the weights. I should have more energy, but I guess I'm just born to be lazy.

WOW, you have your skate key. I never could skate well. Actually, Mom and Daddy didn't like me going to the skating rink. I led a very very strict life.

Hope all is going well for you.

Hi Sandy:-) I always enjoy your Thursday Thirteens...gosh, I remember going roller skating as well! We use to have a roller skating rink not far from here but that building was turned into a warehouse many, many years ago. Roses are also one of my favourite flowers...I'm going to plant only roses in my Faerie garden this summer so hopefully they will grow for me! lol xox

Wow, girlfriend....I can't believe you still have a skate key! Loved your red rosie ranch house list. Guess I'll be tackling the stairs with you soon. Miss you.

What a great list. I understand about the ranch house and no steps! When we built our log home we put everything we need on one floor...and that was before we had knee problems!

Dear Flip Flop

I liked your R’s. I am not retired - I work with the Love of my Life and he doesn’t plan on retiring (smile) so doesn’t plan on my retiring, either (sigh). Ah well, as the saying goes, “It gives me a reason to get up in the morning.”

Rural – I grew up in a small rural town in CA. I don’t know if towns like that even exist any more. We live in a “rural” town in NM – make that a bedroom community to the largest city in the state. It is a blessing to live here – meadowlarks on the lawn, occasionally coyotes in the street.

Brothers: - Jim, not a Ron one of my brothers. My husband also has a Brother Jim – both are the same age, but totally different.

Responsible: yup – eldest and onliest daughter.

Redeemed: praise God for His mercy.

Roses: God has granted me roses. Once we’d been looking for a house to rent. Time was running out and “something” needed to happen. We’d heard a house was for rent and prayed that this one would be for us. I prayed and asked the Lord if this was to be “our house”, that He would have roses in the front. We pulled up to the house – there they were – a row of roses planted across the front. We were blessed during our years in that house.

Have a great day,
