Where did you meet your husband?
In Paris, Illinois at my cousin's wedding. She married his brother. We first met when we were both 14. He was so cute and so shy!! Then again two years later when we were now 16 (1961) and MORE MATURE and in dating age range my cousin set up us for a 'real date'. We started going steady on March 26th1961 and look what happened!!

What was the first thing you said to your husband?
Hi...I guess...many moons ago!!

Where was the first kiss? first date?
I remember this really well because he was never going to kiss me. Finally one night (our of desperation) i just backed him up into a corner on my great grandmother front porch. That started something that i had a time stopping!! Smile!
Our first date was on my cousin's birthday Feb. 24, 1961 at the Paris-Tuscola basketball game!!

Did you have a long or short courtship/engagement?
It seemed long for me. From 16 to almost 19!! We thought about eloping several times but knew it would hurt our parents so we never did.

Where did you get engaged?
He gave me my engagement ring for my 18th birthday Feb 20, 1963 right before my graduation from high school. He had graduated the year before

Where did you get married?
In my hometown of Tuscola, Illinois at the Church of Christ United January 25, 1964.

How did the reception go?
Great!!! People thought we needed to be on time, lots of candy and warm. We received clocks, blankets and candy dishes!! It was right after the ceremony...which to this day I have no recollection of whatsoever. Everyone says that we got married that day in January 1964! I remember the reception though because it was fun shoving cake into his mouth and vise versa. When we walked out to people throwing RICE the sun came out brightly!!

How was the honeymoon?
Down the road about 20 miles to Champaign, Illinois to a small motel called Paradise Inn. Where we paid about $12.36 to stay the night!! We both had to go to work on Monday so there was no actual honeymoon.

Sandy, wow! I don't think I have ever answered anything with one word, well done to you.

Meme's just show us all a little bit more about the person we are reading about and that is a very good thing.

Have a lovely day.

Happy Labour Day dear Sandy! I so enjoyed reading your answers to the marriage questions, as well as the one word meme. I did the one word meme today on my post:-) Didn't do the marriage one, though, because although I share the house with my husband, we have been separated for the last 6 years so we really don't have much to do with each other! xox
