MONDAY MADNESS

Monday and washing the weeks clothes once again. We just got back from camping for the weekend at Myrtle Beach! We had a great time but the weather was not the best!! It simply poured on us!! We walked down to the beach Saturday morning. The kids got new skim boards and were having fun playing with them. The life guard walked up to us and said that they were banded after 10:00 am. Well, there went that fun!! They can only use them before 10:00 am and after 5:00 pm. ODD we all thought!! But they are used in very shallow water so the only reason we could come up with was maybe the older kids knocked people down. Our grands were just having a great time....that was short lived!!

The sky out in the ocean soon looked very threatening and lightning started. If you have never seen the sky change from the beach it is quite an experience!! We packed up and started walking the three (LONG) blocks back to the campers!! It let loose!! WOW!! We were soaked to the skin when we got back...sand and wet not a great combination!!

After the rain we decided to hop in the truck and drive to Broadway at the Beach. It was fun!! It was like a big playground with tons of stores, carnivals and an IMAX, aquarium, and restaurants. Some of the shops were really novelty shops. Some I had never seen before so that was fun. Becky and I found a scrapbook shop called, "Scrapping at the Beach" which was just what we love!!

We went to the IMAX theater and saw Sharks in 3-D. Any of you that know my daughter know that she is "deathly" afraid of sharks but she made it through the movie. It was not as bad as I thought it would be. The kids liked it but then they are 6 and 8!! They kept batting at the air thinking they were hitting the fish as they were coming at them!!

After that we just walked and walked and walked. We had a delicious frappacino white chocolate with NO CALORIES!! But I figured we were walking if off right???

We had fun taking pictures like the one at the top of this post!! I finally got my figure and well so did hubby for that matter!!

When we left we went home and ate our crock pot meal that we had prepared early in the morning. (Creamy Chicken) The kids wanted to go go go !! We left and went and played miniature golf. I guess everyone in Myrtle Beach LOVES to play miniature golf. They are EVERYWHERE you look. They are not the regular type ones. They build them high up in the air. You have to climb steps and go through caves for each hole. I myself am NOT a good player so do not care for this much but I had a GOOD TIME!! I even got a couple or three holes in ONE!! I think we all had a good time with this outing!! It was dark and that made it even more fun!!

Sunday out for breakfast!! WE all love breakfast out!! Just a tradition for we 6!! Garrett (our 6 year old) only wanted a grapefruit...guess he is on a diet!! That did not hold him long!! This from a boy that asks to eat about every 45 minutes!! We went to Grandma's Kitchen!! They also have many many places to eat!!!

The only thing that I did not like about Myrtle Beach is that it is so COMMERCIALIZED!! I bet 'once upon a time' it was a fun place to go visit and see but now it is just like a "tourist trap"!! I am not sure that I would want to go back even, but I can say that I have been there. We saw a lot of places on the way there that I would love to go and see though. Many historical towns that I would have loved to stop and see...time would not let us of course!!

Glad to be back home...

FLIP FLOP FLOOZIE BACK HOME AGAIN!!

We have gone to perdido for years. It has been our own little secret... I so hope it doesn't get all commercial. I love my beautiful, quiet beach!

I'm sorry you didn't care for Myrtle Beach. You are right about it being touristy, like Melli said. But that's what the kids like. Sounds like you had a good time anyway.

I think a lot of the skim board rules and regulations has to do with the safety issues. The riptides and such. Better to have a bit of fun with being safe and not being washed out to sea with no way of getting help.

Rain or no rain, I'm sure you had a lot of fun.

Hi Sandy,
I enjoyed reading all our Myrtle Beach. Sounds much like some of our commercialized beach towns..
Too bad the weather didn't cooperate a bit more.
We'll be off to the beach next week. Can't wait..
