Monday Memories

As most of you know I scrapbook...when I can!! I have several books all done!! Wish that I had more completed.

I came across this picture and as always it brought back one of the happiest times in my life...So with my new scanner and trying to work with the big book I had this in...I managed to scan it to put here in my blog!!

This will not mean a lot to most people..MOSTLY to me..but then again I need to remind myself...THIS IS MY BLOG!! THESE are MY MEMORIES!! Right?

I grew up in small towns or in the country!! These kids were in the 7th grade....As you can see the girls all wore dresses with the big can cans under them. We always thought we looked so good!! smile!!

I loved my can can!! Mother hated it..because she would have to starch and then iron it...Sorry, Mother!!

These kids were having a good time. See the guy with the "play knife" trying to stab his teacher? Well that was the guy I was so GONE OVER!! Remember Johnny!!?? I have talked about him before!! Puppy Love !! He was the cutest and as you can see onery too!!

Some of these "kids" have passed away...Including my Johnny..some at a very young age!! We had a good time then. Course I don't think we knew that we were!! smile!! We rode bikes all of the time and just were good kids.

Today that "plastic knife" would be a BIG problem!! Then we were just laid back fun loving kids!! Remembering can be fun but at the same time be a little sad too!! We were fortunate to have had that fun!! Now only memories remain!!

Just wanted to share a little with you on this dreary rainy Monday here in Georgia!! Hope your day is going well!!

I love this trip down memory lane with you...it's terrific. And to catch up with all you've been blogging about, I've been very lax in visiting others this past weekend....I LOVE the glass entry for the photo hunt...and no, not at all...how could I be upset with your new look? That is what it's about...YOUR blogging...and your own personal choice!!! And I love the simplicity of it all...my art teacher always told me the simpler, the better!!!

Thanks for the visit today.

Hi Sandy,Your scanner worked well and got this picture onto your blog. When I enlarged it , I could see clearly..Are you in the top row, second from the end?? . I got my desk in the kitchen finished and my laptop has a new home...I have so many old pictures in boxes, I would not know where to start...I loved wearing our dresses and skirts with the starched can-can.Thanks for the great memories.... hugs, Barb

Sandy,

Loved the photo. You seem to have mastered the new scanner.

I loved wearing the can cans. They DID makes us look good, didn't they?

Oh, for those days once again. Many of the kids I grew up with have passed. I would think about half of the class, including my first husband, who died at age 33. However, I still like looking at the photos and remembering those days of fun.

Thanks so much for sharing your memories.
Blessings,
Mary

Love the picture and you're so right about the knife. I went to Catholic Schools all the way through and we had to wear a uniform. Very different from the way kids go to school today isn't it?

Hi Sandy:-)

I so love seeing old pictures like that and reading your memories of days gone by! The first thing I noticed was Johnny holding the knife to the teacher...you're right, these days if one even tried to joke around like that with a plastic knife, they'd find themselves charged! Sad isn't it!! I, too, tend to miss those much simpler days when everything and everyone seemed so innocent. Gotta love the dresses and hairstyles:-) xox

I'm back in the blogging world and just had to stop by and check in. I loved your trip down memory lane. It really reminds me of my younger days.

We finally had some sun today in NC- maybe it is headed your way for tomorrow!

Those were the days Sandy!!!! Reflections through your teenage years.... yes, what memories and how innocent we all were then. I like your thoughts of starting at 80 and working backwards.... As I often think these days, youth is wasted on the young!!! Have a great day. Marion

Well, I have an idea where that picture came from -- as I'm sure I have the same one!! That must have been our combination class with Mrs. Waltz, our teacher. Must have made you a picture since Johnny was in it!! :-) You keep me smiling!! Pat

Oh goodness! Well... I was going to guess who was you too - but since you aren't there, I won't!!! LOL! It certainly WAS a more "innocent" time back then. How I WISH we could go back to that sometimes...
